MLB.com: Draft Central

MLB’s Rule 4 draft is today.  Yanks have picks # 28 and 44.  Who will be this year’s Dave Parrish?

Update:  Yanks take California HS RHP Gerrit Cole with pick #28.  Here’s his scouting report from MLB.com:

NYY R/R RHP Gerrit Cole
6’03” 195lbs (HS) Orange Lutheran HS

COMMENTS: A projectable high school right-hander with the capability to throw a fastball up into the upper 90s is bound to garner interest.  Throw in a future plus slider and a changeup, all for which he can throw for strikes, and it’s no wonder Cole is considered one of the top prep pitchers in the class.  He’s going to have to work out some kinks in his delivery and he’s got Scott Boras as an advisor, but neither of those issues should keep him from being drafted early.

More update madness: With their second pick, the Yankees take Stanford U LHP Jeremy Bleich.  His Perfect Game USA scouting report:

Jeremy Bleich is a good looking 6’2/185 LHP from Metairie, LA, high 80’s LHP, outstanding command, excellent hard dropping 76 mph CB, arm works fluidly, mechanics are solid, highest level college prospect with high draft potential, excellent student.
