MLB.com: Giambi homers again as Yankees win
NEW YORK—Twice now, Joba Chamberlain has started, and twice, his outing has been preceded by hype and expectation.
Twice, also, his performance has had a minimal impact on the outcome of the game.
Chamberlain was long gone by the time Jason Giambi hit a tie-breaking homer on Sunday, his shot leading the Yankees to a 6-3 victory over the Royals.
Giambi led off the sixth inning with a solo homer to right field, giving the Yankees their second lead of the day. It marked the third time Giambi has homered in four games, and not coincidentally, the Yankees have won all three. In the one game he didn’t homer, the Yankees lost.
The Yankees should really cut Giambi loose to minimize these rally-killing home runs.
