-Jarrod Washburn has been a modern day version of Chuck Finley when it comes to facing the Yankees.  In his career he’s started 11 games against them and pitched 75 innings wih an ERA of 2.52.  He’s having a brutal year so maybe the Yankees can reverse that today. Batter/pitcher matchups aren’t very predictive but only Alex Rodriguez and Derek Jeter have hit him well.  In 50 PA Rodriguez has hit .311/.380/.711 and has 6 HRs.  Jeter has hit .324/.395/.412 against him.  Take them out of the equation and the rest of the Yankes have hit .226/.288/.393 against Washburn.

-If the Yankees win this game by two runs they get their Pythagorean record to .500. 

-After 45 games the Yankees were on pace to score 652 runs.  Four games later and they’re on pace to score 714.
