By the way, I’ve given up.

You might have been the last hold-out here.  Welcome to the club.  The crying room is over there.

Boy, will you all feel embarrassed when they make—

Forget it, I couldn’t even type it with a straight face.

I’m grinning ear to ear by the time I finish most of my posts. I don’t understand this straight face thing at all. Which is perhaps why I can’t write comedy. Well, subtle comedy.

also, I just added the show to my queue.

Looks like it’s back.

I’ve been on hold with the IRS for a cumulative 2 hours today an still have yet to talk to a single live person.

And why does the IRS call us “customers”?

Talking about what to do in 2009 is probably going to be a lot more fun that thinking about 2008.

Hey, maybe the Yankees catch the Rays and not the Red Sox? Wow, that would be crazy.

Stat padding.  Yawn.

Hey, maybe the Yankees catch the Rays and not the Red Sox? Wow, that would be crazy.

Do you start Snacks in Game 2 or Game 3?

All those productive outs!  Sterling must be raving.

I’m raving too.  Though for different reasons.

Do you start Snacks in Game 2 or Game 3?

Well played.

And why does the IRS call us “customers”?

This is easily the best point made all day.

Do you start Snacks in Game 2 or Game 3?

He’s my ace in the hole.  I’m holding him back until Game 5.

That’s two botched DPs in one inning.  I thought Halos were “fundamentally sound and did all the little things right”?  Or is that only when Eckstein and Erstad were on the roster?

No matter, WOE is out in full force.  Le sigh.

The Rays lose out, then somehow NY catches Minn/Chisox?

There would have to be a whole lotta sucking by those other teams, and a sudden burst of offense by a team that can only manage to score 3 runs in 2 games vs. the Mariners…

BTW, I heard Sterling practically raping Kim Jones on the air on Sunday.  What a smarmy kook.

Carl Pavano is not interested in going undefeated this season.

Please, can’t we just forfeit the rest of the season??

The evil of the day is sufficient.

That was quick and merciless.

Damn, I was hoping for a real throwdown, Pedro-Zimmer style.

What happened to Pudge?

Did Girardi pull him because he is ineffective, just to piss off Pete Abraham?

Pudge and Torii Hunter got into a bitch-slapping contest, prompting both benches to clear.  Both were ejected.

These guys deserve to be embarassed.  I have seen one good AB in a week, Abreu in Tampa, just before A-Rod’s reviewed HR.

Cano may be getting a ton of attention here for his disappointing season, but keep in mind his AVG w/ RISP is .252, while our aforementioned cleanup hitter, Alex “it always comes down to me!” Rodriguez isn’t much better with a .264 w/ RISP.  I know its a team effort to suck as bad as they do, but doesn’t anyone think a mulitple MVP winner should get a little more credit than Robbie? Especially because the main reason for this disaster of a season is the lack of offense?

You really found it necessary to have a game chatter, against the Yankees killers no less? Sheesh.

Does anybody really believe the Yankees will try and sign both Tex and CC?

Does anybody really believe the Yankees will try and sign both Tex and CC?

Try?  Yes.  Succeed?  Probably not.

Two game suspension for Pudge, Three for Hunter?

Despite Eiland’s oddly timed faint it wasn’t much of a fight.

You really found it necessary to have a game chatter, against the Yankees killers no less? Sheesh.

For a game that starts at 10:10 in the night for everyone (Clay doesn’t count)?

He’s not the only one on the left coast.  There are a few of us.

can someone please elaborate on the fight?

Way back in the 20th century, Bill James wrote the first essential book about baseball managers. Chris Jaffe has just written the second.
- Rob Neyer, ESPN.com

From now on, whenever I have a question about a manager, Jaffe's book will be the first and last one I reach for.

John Brattain Memorial Fund

The Hardball Times has set up a memorial fund for John Brattain's family. He left behind a wife and two teenage daughters.

Four years ago, I found from personal experience how generous the online community can be to its own in their hour of need. I am now literally begging you to be even more generous than you were to me.
