Rasner vs. Kazmir? Yikes…
Comments
Just think of it as CMW vs Kazmir - based on tRA it’s almost a wash.

Back in reality.
I wonder when Kazmir is going to learn how to pitch deep into games.
I wonder when Kazmir is going to learn how to pitch deep into games.
When Don complains enough about him.
My college really doesn’t want me to double major. The registrar keeps removing my second major. I was under the impression that double majors were good for everyone involved, as long as the stress doesn’t kill me.
I wonder when Kazmir is going to learn how to pitch deep into games.
For the sake of Yankees’ miniscule chances of making the playoffs, let’s hope it’s not this season.
Clay, double majors aren’t good for anyone involved, least of all your sanity.
well, fuck ‘em I’m doing it anyway. and who needs sanity? I’m an artist damnit!
I applied for my second major last semester senior year. Why not just fly under the radar?
That’s the spirit.
Although I have noticed a precipitous drop in my English speaking ability. So that could be a problem.
We have senior comprehensives that are full year projects. So I don’t think that’s really an option.
It’s OK. I’ve accepted the fact the if I get sleep on Tuesday or Wednesday nights I’ve won a large victory. The downside is staying awake for the 7.5 hours of class I have on Thursdays.
Kazmir seems to be missing by a lot when he misses (ignoring what gameday shows as low strikes called balls).
I’m glad Alex broke up the perfect game.
7.5 hours of class. Ew.
Ah, the halcyon days of college…
yeah, I’m not really sure how that happened. I also have 2 workouts on Thursdays. It’s not a good situation.
The yankees really can’t hit Kazmir but they sure can drive up his pitch count.
The AC in my office has been turned off. Sure sign I need to hightail it outta here.
Lousy bunt.
Gameday hates this umpire.
Jacobs just murdered a d back. By the way, infield single to 2B? What’s up with that?
“Jacobs just murdered a d back.”
?
Translation: Brandon Jacobs of the NY Giants just put a big hit on a Defensive Back.
You have to fear Cody Ransom.
Ah. I couldn’t think of a Jacobs in the NL, and Arizona’s not playing.
He does have a 2.714 OPS this season. That’s what, about a 400 OPS+?
Mike Jacobs is having a good year for the Marlins.
Cody Ransom is basically Roy Hobbs.
Oy vey.
Seriously, what the fuck is up with Gabe Gross?
Does Rasner know he’s not supposed to give up hits?
Ack! Raz throwing batting practice.
Alfredo! What a fantastic name. So, does he start for Rasner next go-round? Or is that the spot that can be skipped?
“Alfredo! What a fantastic name.”
? It’s just Alfred, latinized.
I like to think of it as the pasta sauce in my head.
WTF happened??? I leave office, it’s middle of the 2nd. I come home, it’s STILL the 2nd and we’re trailing by 5!
Raz attack, that’s what happened.
Over/under on the number of shots of Archie in the crowd tonight?
Raz attack, that’s what happened.
Aye, guess so. Sigh.
Hey, perhaps the half-hour inning will discombobulate Kazmir!
You know what would be nice? A hit.
I’d like to believe the era of Rasner (known as Rasner/Karstens in the halcyon days of winter ‘06/‘07) is over, but I’m not sure Joe G. has the heart to give up on him.
OMG, they really are going to get no-hit, aren’t they.
Doubtful, ym, not because they’re good, but because Kaz likely can’t pitch that long.
Eh, it’s only the 4th inning. Kazmir probably won’t go more than 6 at this rate. They’ll get a hit, don’t worry about it. They’ll still lose, but it won’t be a no-hitter.
Kazmir and his current no-hitter won’t last.
Perhaps Alfie can keep it close until they can drive Kaz out of the game and unload on the bullpen.
Speaking of no-hitters, PawSox are throwing one against Scranton. IPK’s given up 2 runs on 5 hits in 5 innings.
And speaking of unloading, Tampa’s AAA team is getting absolutely hammered to the tune of 19-2.
So, who would have thought that a game against a division leading team in early september would drive yankee fans to scoreboard watch AAA games?
And since when is 5-0 close? Although it is closer than 6-0.
Yea, I meant “close” as in “not falling even further behind.”
Hey, I just stopped int o point out that Kazmir is pitching a no-hitter.
....and [51] made no sense whatsoever. Ugh.
Did somebody say *yikes*?
Hey, it worked.
I did that. I did. I
Hey, did you notice that Kazmir is pitching a shutout?
Ransom’s OPS now up to 2.750
Guess Kaz was right to fear Cody Ransom.
Allow me to point out once again the awesomeness of his name. Pure poetry.
I could have done that. Three straight called strikes?
Put in Crystal!
WTF, Brett???
That sums up WOE pretty darn good.
Best. Ballplayer. Picture. Ever.
Seriously.
WTF YM. Looks like a strange mating of Mo Vaughn and the Wilson brothers with a buzzard or 2 thrown up his ass.
Poor lad.
REminds me of the guy in the gorilla suit at the end of Trading Places.
Belushi or Beeks?
I can’t stop laughing and I can’t look away from the pic…
Right, Beeks. Nice one.
Wee bit of Flounder too. After the Lincoln gets marked up a bit.
Good call, OTF. Flounder it is.
Is it just me, or has Alfie gone 3-2 on every single batter so far?
Good game eh? I think the NFL started tonight.
IPK did pretty well against a very good Pawtucket offense tonight: 7 IP, 5H, 2ER, 3BB, 5K. Might we see him next time Raz’s spot comes up? Rasner seems like a swell guy, but at this point I’d rather see just about anyone other than him on the mound.
Maybe Melky *should’ve* eaten Gardner.
Aye YM. Time to put the Raz out of our misery.
I’m writing a song/poem about Nimrod.
I’ll debut it here.
Chuckles guaranteed.
I love when a single actually *lowers* your OPS. Fairly awesome.
Are the Giants going to blow it in spectacular fashion? Their play in the second half is strangely reminiscent of WOE.
So, Gardner seems like he strikes out looking quite a bit. There’s probably quite a bit of difference between AAA pitchers and the Kazmirs out there in terms of strike-throwing ability. It’s almost like that Simpsons where Homer gets into boxing by just having the other guy hit him till he’s tired, but the Tyson-like character won’t get tired. Just a different class.
To be fair, it’s got to be extremely tough for the kid to not get an at-bat for what, 2 weeks, and then be asked to get going against a very tough lefty. Gardner wasn’t even in the starting lineup until about 5:30pm.
Well, I wasn’t just talking about tonight. That was my observation from his first go-round, but currently I’m trying to find some data to back that up.
I wish I understood the Fangraphs swing data.
Speaking of Melky, Melky getting called up tomorrow, speaking of Melky.
Yay! I miss that inept goofball!
He’s good times. It’s fun when guys look lost.
Huh
Hey, can we have a long discussion about how Jeter hit a meaningless homerun?
One-pitch save.
So close, yet so far…Le sigh.
Might we see him next time Raz’s spot comes up?
At this point, they really should replace Rasner/Ponson with Aceves/Kennedy.
At this point, they really should replace Rasner/Ponson with Aceves/Kennedy.
I have a feeling you’ll be hearing in a few days how Aceves is taking Rasner’s spot. I think they’ll let the AAA playoffs play out before promoting either Kennedy or Hughes. I wouldn’t mind seeing them give Coke a shot at Ponson’s spot in the rotation, though.
I wouldn’t mind seeing them give Coke a shot at Ponson’s spot in the rotation, though.
I’m pretty sure Coke’s only pitching out of the bullpen for the rest of the year, as they’re trying to limit his innings.
