Yankee Win Probability: 59.4%
Winning this game would give the Yankees a series win in the first two series of a nine game road trip. They are off tomorrow before heading into Boston for three games. Chad Gaudin makes his first start as a Yankee, possibly vying for a full-time rotation spot if he pitches well. That makes this an important game for Gaudin. Since’s Gaudin’s a Yankee, it thus makes it an important game for them as well.
Go Yankees.
Comments
We play today, we win today…
Ken Davidoff has a column up about mgl in which he discusses UZR and the Teix/UZR “controversy.”
RI, you forgot “dassit”.
Has this page gotten less hits since the Yankees opened up their division lead? I feel slightly less into the team, to be honest, and just wondering if that’s carried over into a decrease in traffic.
I think there’s always a little lag when they are on a west coast road trip. Also, for some reason, when I post at work it doesn’t go through.. not sure why.
Has this page gotten less hits since the Yankees opened up their division lead?
I’m here. Still excited.
Thank you Thurm… the latent dimentia is starting to show…
I think the decreased traffic is related to the late WC starts…
The ‘traffic test’ will be this weekend vs the Sawx…
The more the Yankees win, the more eager I am to watch games.
Cliff Lee is dominating the NL. 4-0 in 4 starts, 33 IP, 0.82 ERA, 1.64 BB/9, 9.27 K/9 (he’s never been a strikeout pitcher like that).
Jeter should bat lefty just to make it fair.
[9] Sabathia-esque
[10] You mean he’s not a natural lefty that’s been batting righty all these years to make it fair?
I was thinking the same thing about Lee, regarding his Sabathia-like performance.
Manufactured run. Yay or boo. I guess I’ll take it.
It would be nice if Sabathia could pull a Sabathia.
[15] The Yankees can’t move to the junior circuit right now, otherwise he would.
Ugh.
I think the decreased traffic is related to the late WC starts…
I agree, and it’s especially true if they dig an early hole like the last game in SEA and the first in OAK. You definately see more traffic when the Yankees are scoring, because there’s more to comment on.
Uh, let’s go Gaudin already.
We may have a battler on our hands.
More runs may be necessary.
west coast sucks. cut it off and float it out to sea
I didn’t know Chad Pennington switched sports.
Hughes should start.
bot>
Stats belong in the East River or Pacific.
sacre bleu! Gaudin est nasty
[24] I agree.
Is Chad French Canadian?
Gaudin K machine.
I think it’s Cliff, not Chad Pennington.
Keep it going, Gaudin.
Je t’adore Gaudin!
Eh, is there a word in french for “battle” ?
Ah, not French Canadian but Cajun! Even better!
[32] retreat? but seriously, I would hope so.
Let’s go offense.
aux armes!
I think it’s Cliff, not Chad Pennington.
Yeah, I know. Maybe a cousin? He plays SS so he probably has a better arm than Chad.
formez vos battaillons!
I refuse to say “ow, arm” to encourage a pitcher.
[32] Yes there is : bataille
[32] it would be rather impressive for French not to have a word that meant “battle” considering France’s rather tumultuous past.
This one’s for you, Chad!

Je t’adore Gaudin!
Isn’t it “j’adore”?
And this is a face only a mother could “adore”.
Seriously. They once fought a war for a A hundred fucking years.

!!
Damon showing sick range.
man, it must be annoying to be a hitter in oakland
[44] That’s a record that won’t be broken any time soon.
Cy Gaudin?
Tack on runs…
allez gaudin!
I wonder what Gaudin’s career mark against Jeff Francouer is.
[44] That’s a record that won’t be broken any time soon.
To be fair, the war was actually a series of conflicts broken up by periods of peace.
Yes, notably when Henry V married Princess Katherine of France.
Runner up!
Bandbox
au revoir baseball!!
That was a friggin’ bomb.
I must say, when Flaherty is calling the game, no one can accuse Yankee announcers of being homers. That was the most subdued HR call I’ve heard all year.
He’s no MVP but he’s pretty damn good.
Art Howe!
[44] this war was actually 116 years. That’s takes commitment…
We need to get Cano a helmet with blinders on so he can’t see anyone on base.
Henry VI,
in infant bands crowned king of France and England
whose state so many had the managing
that they lost France and made his England bleed.
bon chance, Gaudin
Ha, I thought Art Howe too.
I love you guys. Just back from Montreal. Hopefully the Yankees can make a bunch of balls sortie!
Voilà!
Gaudin > Mitre.
I hope this means no more Mitre, or at least a lot less of Mitre.
Everidge est gros! mon dieu
Don’t worry, people, everything is bon.
Gaudin is better than Mitre, I GARONTEE!
Wow, Jeter was positioned perfectly. On the grass.
Bon l’oeil, Lait!
Pennington considered tagging both bases for the unassisted DP. He certainly had time.
Non puissant
[48] Well, there are 61 years since the proclamation of the state of Israel, and a good 30 years of skirmishes before that. The record is not as secure as you would think.
Jeter is hitting out of his mind right now
Jeter is like impossible to get out at the moment.
Jeter es en feu! Magnifique!
The doors of the temple of Janus in Rome were open (indicating war) for hundreds of years during the Republic iirc.
How do you spell MVP?
Bon chance pour Damon…l’opportunitie gran
Por favor, no hablen en francais.
(My Spanish is a bit rusty but I think that is right.)
Sacre bleu!
How many times has a player had 4 straight 3-hit games?
“Bon l’oeil, Lait!”
Thinking about l’Histoire de l’oeil de Georges Bataille?
? I was saying, good eye, Melky
merde
UGHGH
Every Jeter and Cano are involved in a misplay, the broadcasters assign the primary responsiblity to Cano.
Stupid battling.
quel dommage
Au revoir, Gaudin.
Hey Chad, a 4-pitch walk to load the bases is not helpful. Please never do that again.
In the words of Jean-Paul Sartre, au revoire, gopher.
Cano should have had that, I think. But check out Jeter’s range.
[87] Sorry, that was an attempt at a pun. In the story something rather obscene happens with a plate of milk.
Mendoza-like!
VIVE LA FRANCE! VIVE LA DEMORACIE!!
oh, yeah, that went right over my head rilkefan
