Moose’s shot at 20 wins is getting slimmer and slimmer.  He probably has 5 starts left and has to win 4 of ‘em.  Good luck with WOE behind you Moose.

Holy cow White-a Game Chatter

Can the Yankees win 88 games? Basically, that means they have to go 15-10, roughly a 60 percent winning percentage.

I would settle for that.

I’d take it, but I’m pessimistic, given their upcoming schedule.

If this season is how the streak ends, I’m glad we saw it coming way ahead of time. Losing on the last day in a 1-game playoff vs. BOS or something would have sucked.

Anyone else remember the predictions before the season?  88 wins was derided as extremely pessimistic.  Probably was, but turned out to be just about right.

Once we don’t make the playoffs does it really matter how many games we win?  I’d rather not obscure the problems of this team with a mini streak that still leaves us short.

Basically, that means they have to go 15-10

21 and 4. WC. You heard it hear first. Now wheres that nurse with my meds?

*here

Apparently in addition to being crazy, I have grammar problems.

ESPN is so bad it’s not even funny. One of these guys just said that the Rays have “handled adversity.” Yeah, no shit. They handled adversity 84 times this year.

Obviously, I’ve given up on the season - that said, they really only have to pick up four games before the last series of the season to at least make things interesting, right?

So I’m rooting for that now - I’m rooting for “Make it interesting!”

On top of “rooting for Moose to win 20,” of course.

Anyone else remember the predictions before the season?

Remembrance of the pre season predictions involves reliving as well the season’s disaster. No thanks.

Gameday had called strike one to Abreu well outside.

... and Moose gets the same apparent call.

Ten pitches, zero swings…

Anyone else remember the predictions before the season?

I definitely had the Rays in 3rd and Seattle in 1st. Oof.

Make that eleven.  Does Moose have great stuff today?

Eff you, Upton.

Was that a homer taken away?

No, but it would’ve been a booming double to dead center.

Na ja - oh well.

Too early to congratulate Matt Garza on his first no-hitter?

I take it that was a “triple”?

Absolutely terrible baserunning by the Rays in this inning.

Too early to congratulate Matt Garza on his first no-hitter?

Shut up.

Uhh, that was just a joke, not funny but not objectionable that I can see.

... and moot.

Yup, it was too early tongue laugh

Sorry if my stupid little joke upset you, j!

Too early to congratulate Matt Garza on his first no-hitter?

Robinson Cano: “No soup for you!”

Why am I here?

Oh yeah.  I love baseball.

Go Yankees!

Glad to see Game Chatter up again.  No more crickets on RLYW.  Go Yanks!

I am so miserable… at least football is starting.

Moose is 17 K’s away from 2800 for his career. He will get there in approximately 3 starts, I hope.

Did the Rays just WOE-proof this one?

Sorry if my stupid little joke upset you, j!

It’s ok. I’m admittedly grump. Something about this team pisses me off.

*grumpy

Possibly.

You know whats fucked up?  The Rays could have had Josh Hamilton in RF. They might have 100 wins by now if they had him in their line up this year.

Jeter improves his SB percentage significantly. Sadly, he has also increased the likelihood of adding to the staggering ineptitude of WOE with RISP.

Is there a gremlin in the rafters that is knocking these balls down? I mean, what the fuck?!?!?

Just put the damn ball in play, Alex.

Also, the fucking cowbell at the Trop has got to go.

A-Rod, the prophet of WOE-doom looms.

Bold prediction: He will not get anything to hit, will try to hit anyway, and fail.

"Just put the damn ball in play, Alex.”

He was trying to do that on the second pitch, out of the zone…

The last 2 pitches were exactly the same, but one was a ball and another a strike?

Alex’s inner monolouge: “Phew!”

...aaaand he walks, giving way to the suckiest Yankee hitter w/RISP.

Wow Alex was excited to walk- he looked very relieved...unfortunately

Riggans has pissed this ump off I think.

Thankfully, he didn’t bite.

Upto the G-man. Hopefully, the stupid shift will not be on.

If the shift is on, Jeter should just walk home.

"Riggans has pissed this ump off I think.”

How so?

Steal 2nd.

How so?

Singleton mentioned that the ump was telling Riggans to pipe down. Seems likely that Riggans is jawing and pissing him off because in the previous inning, they showed Riggans cursing the ump out to Joe Maddon over a called strike during Riggan’s AB.

Holy cow, ‘Stache drives the run in!

...aaaand he walks, giving way to the suckiest Yankee hitter w/RISP.

It tells you something that he co-leads the Yankees in RBI with the man who walked in front of him.

Does anyone else get the United Way commercials featuring some indie rock band covering Pat Benatar?

ARod can’t get to 2nd base on that?

X-Man delivers!!!

A run! A run! My Kingdom, for a run!

Holy shit, that was a fucking BOMB.

I really like me some Xavier Nady.

"Singleton mentioned [...]”

Thanks.

Moose is experiencing an unfamiliar feeling . . .

A run! A run! My Kingdom, for a run!

What about 2 runs?

Holy shit, that was a fucking BOMB.

Yup.  If this were an open-air stadium, that probably would’ve been out of the stadium.

I dont know what to feel- on one hand I am really puling for Moose and the possibility of a monumental comeback.  On the other hand I dont want Bahston to catch The Rays.

I dont know what to feel- on one hand I am really puling for Moose and the possibility of a monumental comeback.  On the other hand I dont want Bahston to catch The Rays.

Easy - pull for Moose.

I dont know what to feel- on one hand I am really puling for Moose and the possibility of a monumental comeback.  On the other hand I dont want Bahston to catch The Rays.

Don’t ever go against the family.

YM, I think you should have written “pul for Moose”.

Is WFAN charging now to listen online? I went to listen to the Cashman interview and that seems to be the case.  Is there any radio worse than Mike Francesser all by himself? Oh yeah, all the other Met cheerleaders on WFAN.

YM, I think you should have written “pul for Moose”.

I know.  I’m a screwup.

’YM, I think you should have written “pul for Moose”.’

?

Never mind - edited in preprocessor.

’YM, I think you should have written “pul for Moose”.’

?

The original comment said “...puling for Moose...”

My dilemma is so much like this year- everything good has something bad come with it.  We sweep Houston and are poised to go on a huge roll but Wang gets hurt.  Moose finally gets a win but it helps BOS.  Joba becomes a good SP but gets hurt.

"Football mentality” alert!

(Leiter)

Stop messing around, Mike.  You ain’t getting more than these 3 runs, you know.

Moooooooose!

(Had to be done.)

PagsRags, what are you going to do when Pedroia wins MVP?

Hey kids!

It was I, yours truly, Who predicted an 88 win season, prior to the sesaon beginning. cool smirk

PagsRags, what are you going to do when Pedroia wins MVP?

We’ll have to put him on suicide watch.

Sadly, the season is not over.  No credit for you until then.

Another “triple”?

WWWWW?

(What’s wrong with WOE week?)

Another “triple”?

No, that was pretty legit.

Five, count ‘em, five runs for Mussina. Don’t faint, Moose.

Cool.

Go Moose.

Good things happening today.  Moose has reached the 5th inning with a decent sized lead, so he could even exist early to be able to toss 2-3 innings on his throw day (perhpas even vulching a win from Joba who starts and only throws 3-4 innings).  A-Rod even scored a run after a clutch walk with RISP (who knows?  maybe he’ll start getting something to hit in those spots).

PagsRags, what are you going to do when Pedroia wins MVP?

Beat a midget.

Remember when we were discussing that Mussina is practically done, and should only be pitching against the bad teams?  I’m not trying to say the Rays are a high-powered offense, but damn, I’m glad Moose has proven that pretty much bunk this season.

MOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooooose.

Go Yankees!!

[And no, I don’t hate myself for saying it.]

It’s not a true 2008 Yankee game until Jeter GIDPs.  He must be way over his career high by now, no?

So, um....that was kind of a slow hook.  I guess he had a nice lead, but it would have been nice to not give up a couple of extra runs.

Um.  Moose must be seething right now.

Beat a midget.

I kind of can’t believe I frequent the same board with this.

Frog aren’t you the kid-touching professor from Tulane?  Eh, I guess those college kids are legal.

This Pena is a good ballplayer, huh?

This is the Marte I thought we’d be seeing.

I’m actually a Dean.  Now I only touch astrology professors.

Joba in.

Frog- The midget may run him over with a ski rack heavy Volvo.
Thats why you play the game.

Woohoo, Joba!!

Stat padding bitch. Where you at last week?

Stat-padding time!

Preceding 3 posts bring a wide smile to my young face.

Kay just said that A-Rod is now tied with “a hall-of-famer” at 548 homers (meaning Schmidt).

Because there are a lot of guys with 500+ homers who aren’t hall-of-famers.

(I know, I know, some are active, but still, it sounded stoopid.)

Dude, this is Kay talking.  Of course it’s stoopid.

Upton’s arm is ridiculous.

But Kay went to Bronx Science!

Michael Jack Scmidt was my favorite non-Yankee player all through my childhood.

But when he announced his retirement he cried.

Anyone else want to chime in?

RE-109. #24 of the Giants says “I don’t think so”

Bubba, you’re the top comment poster now.  Think I can catch up to you?  Tonight?

He’s sayin’ the Say Hey Kid’s arm makes Upton look Damonesque.

Go for it, Kermit.

I loved Schmitty. The only players displayed on my sportsroom walls not wearing pinstripes are Koufax, Michael Jack, Brett and Kirby P. I need a nice Twins Kaat picture. And a Kaline.

88? 89? 90? 91?

He’s sayin’ the Say Hey Kid’s arm makes Upton look Damonesque.

Ahh, gotcha.  I was thinking the football team, for some reason.

RE-116. Thanks for the translation Frog. Mays made Uptons arm look Bernied. So did Chet Lemon and Devon White. Don’t get me started on Paul Blair.

Schmidt was like a right-handed Nettles (my real favorite), except, well, about 30% better at hitting.

His numbers starting in 1974 were ridiculously consistently amazing.  In an age when 40 HR would usually lead the league, he went 36, 38, 38, 38, off year 21, 45, 48, led majors in strike year with 31, 35, 40, 36, 33, 37, 35.

88? 89? 90? 91?

Those were good years.

Frog- like your Pop I grew up in Philly. Saw many MJS games. Hand on the Koran I swear Graig was a better fielder.
Nice job by the O’s holding the Sawx to under 3 TD’s.

is d pedroier mvp?

Hand on the book of Kells also. Don’t wanna hide my Paganism.

No Eelz. Jed Lowrie.

Hey, Geise is back.

No need to be nice, Geise.

Thurm, good.  Nettles was my favorite player because when I was 8 I loved watching him in the field.

i before e except after jobber

Donnie baseball my fav- far and away, hands down, no contest.  Still is. I hate rooting against him but I’m sick of Joe T and his media minyans.

It would fit perfectly with this season if Moose finished with 19 wins.

Nice to see Moose get a win. Wish I could still pay attention (and join in) beyond checking in on the scores after the games from time to time.
