No ARod tonight…

Yanks always seem to struggle against pitchers they haven’t seen…

Let’s hope they break the routine tonight…

Ok… they faced Ryan B Rowland Smith (his nickname should be ‘law firm’) last September… he gave 3 runs on 7 hits… in 6.1 innings…

Meanwhile, deep in the heart of Texas, Lester is struggling in the 4th…

Two on (walks)... no out…

Lester comes back and strikes out the side…

4- Yeah that sucked. Man, is possible to be any fatter than Rex Ryan?
Andy Reid is saying…...Modamn! Thats a fat bastard.

Nice Sox gear available below. Click it gents.

Nice game by Millwood. So far.

Sox now up to 17 consecutive scoreless innings

[8] the Sox offense has just disappeared since the break. Not that it was particularly great before.

Clay, with Youk out, it may be non-existent on this trip to Texas…

This guy needs to pick one surname and go with it.

Sloproid ties it at 2. Whatffenever. 1918.

Everyday Eddie Guardardo just gave up a 2-run dinger to Papi… game tied…

Is Alex Gonzalez with the team yet?  Maybe he slipped sloppy some new eyedrops.

[15] I think he’s joining tomorrow…

Andru Jones unties it…

[17] I wish we were the only ones to have a zombie that can homer.

Sorry… a soft liner to shallow center scored Marlon Byrd who had doubled…

C’mon Andy!

Les holds em to a one run outburst.

Thurm, he struck out the side for the 3rd time tonight…

Submariner Darren O’Day now in for the Rangers…

Meanwhile, Pettite looking to battle early tonight…

It’s gonna be one of those nights…

22- I know, Les is superfly TNT.

Battle cat is being routed.

Well, we were getting worn out with all the battling. We got our wish.

“The dudes have envied him for so long

Ooooooh, Superfly”

Battle-Goat is being herded by the weak Shelties.

Daniel ‘back-to-back’ Bard now in for the Sox in bot of 7th…

28- Curtis BE Superfly. Across 110th and all. Great stuff.

Awesome stuff, Thurm… can always count on you for a nostalgic moment…

Especially in this 40th Anniversary of Woodstock…

Hey… anyone with a TV? Posado hit HR or not?

Hit on the yellow line. Is that a homer ? Or does it have to clear the line to be out ?

I think double. but so close.

Looks like a jack to me but I’m watching the low deffer tonight.

double…

Ruled a double on review.

That was hit a long way.  I think it’s a HR if it hits that fence thing though.  But apparently it hit the yellow line and popped back into the field of play.

If he leaves one up, Swish will go yard.

Meanwhile… at the Ballpark in Arlington, Texas now up 4-2

RI.. NESN but no YESN? That blows.

Yeah it really hit the top of the yellow line.

Come on Happy!!

I’m thinking of getting Sheltie.  What’s weak about them, huh, OTF?

Texas up 4-2

It used to ‘blow’ harder when the Sox were kickin’ our ass…

I’m just too cheap to spring for the MLB package…

The wall has about 6” of padding above the yellow line. So it’s possible to clear the yellow and still not clear the top of the wall. Would THAT be out ? It’s a strange wall.

Nice… I’ll take a cheap run…

I don’t understand the whole yellow line thing.  What happened to the old days when a HR meant the ball cleared the wall?  Now fans need to be on top of the field so they erect these fences on top of the walls, meaning less definitive HRs.

[50] Concur. It is also strange that the yellow foul pole is a HR, but the yellow line on the wall is not.

45- Well Pete I’ve known two and Mr T the K has caused them endless agony, via the Forest claws. Spirit ebbed badly.
The collie cousins from the border… different story.
One of those bitches chased him under the car and ruined his Schlieffen plan.

[51] nice call Pinstriper…

Is Andy starting to…put up a fight ? (don’t want to jinx)

Andy is in ‘take-no-prisoner’ mode… (or is it take no shit?)

[55] keep the battle talk going.

CJ Wilson just threw a beauty past Lowell on 3-2… One inning left for the Bosox… Texas still leading 4-2

I’d feel better about this game if we could score 10, maybe 12 runs in the next coupla innings.

Four pitch walk.  Well done.

Efficiency, thy name is Goat Boy.

OTF - guitar solo in THIS:

Holy @é%&ó

Hank Blalock just got the Golden Sombrero…

Zombie Griffey.

That’s a battlin’.

Three straight hits to start the 9th have the Sox down 4-3 with runners on 1st and 2nd…

Francisco trying to cough it up. 4-3, no outs. Runners on 1st, 2nd.

Did I just read gameday right? Buchholz pinch running?

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh what a play in Texas!!!!!!!!!!!

Pedroia hits a double off the wall in left…

Buckholz pinch running for Veritek stubles around the bases and gets nailed at the plate!!!

haha wish I could see it…

Wow Pete. 10 years after Leonid. That Veras crashed my new Acer.

Frack. In play, run(s).

Francisco is such a turd… Sox now up 5-4

V - Mart with a 2 bagger. Sawx up 5-4

Bay singles. 6-4.

Bay singles in VMart… now 6-4.

Predictable.  Go throw another chair into the crowd, Franky.

two run HR by Drew… now 8-4

Looked like one hell of an AB by Martinez.  Probably outcome-determining.

Nancy boy goes yahhd. F it.

Yes, Wombat, that was the key hit… he was down to one strike…

In other news, Melky does something I haven’t seen in… it seems like a while, anyway.

Thank you… another cheap run…

What’s with the sudden onslaught of wild pitches?  It just seems bizarre.

Me like!!! Tied.

Great job by Francisco.  I’m not sure he understood the concept of retiring batters.

That was a quick trip around the bags for Melky… er, Melkerson.

Thats Senor Melkerson to us.

[86]
It’s probably the language barrier, Jonathan.  He didn’t misunderstood what the pitching coach was telling him.

Francisco was just touching base with his inner Farns.

Still… Nolan Rowland-Smith?
Rube Rowland-Smith? (Not Marquard, but Waddell)
Lefty Rowland-Smith?
Ol’-Hoss-Rowland-Smith?!

Jeeez.

Three Finger Rowland and Martin-Brown-Eye Smith.

[91] Sorry, I didn’t follow that AT ALL. Is Sterling or Kay babbling ? I have the M’s broadcast (its local so the MLBEI is blacked out).

Fear the BATTLE-GOAT.

Liking this inning from Pettitte.

Why is Goat Boy wearing a glove with a big fat “L” on it ? That can’t help your state of mind.

[96]
Striking out the side, one the other hand…

Flash said grinded. Should be ground right?
I ground some coffee this morning. I’m sure it wasn’t grinded. It was good.

“Goat Boy”

Sorry, is there a Giles in the game?

Grinded is used exclusively for a select group of veteran pitchers, like Andy.

Way back in the 20th century, Bill James wrote the first essential book about baseball managers. Chris Jaffe has just written the second.

From now on, whenever I have a question about a manager, Jaffe's book will be the first and last one I reach for.

John Brattain Memorial Fund

The Hardball Times has set up a memorial fund for John Brattain's family. He left behind a wife and two teenage daughters.

Four years ago, I found from personal experience how generous the online community can be to its own in their hour of need. I am now literally begging you to be even more generous than you were to me.
