Cody Ransom at 1B. Whatever.
Comments
Seems like the statements “Cody Ransom at 1B” and “Whatever” are redundant.
Is that the line up? Yet another victim of cut and paste.
Jeter SS
Swisher RF
Teixeira DH
Rodriguez 3B
Posada C
Cano 2B
Cabrera CF
Hairston LF
Ransom 1B
That’s… that’s beyond depressing. Why is Ransom still on this team?
This game is starting off about right.
Ransom must be one scary dude. I can’t understand why else he’s getting such playing time. Maybe he just threatens to jump on people’s heads if he doesn’t play.
Girardi proving that he means what he says.
It would be better if either he didn’t mean it or if he said something different.
Just doesn’t look like $200,000,000.
Although, when Girardi said the team could use them both at the same time, I thought he meant “on the team at the same time,” not “in the line-up at the same time.”
Too many back-ups in this line-up. Maybe Girardi only cares about winning series… and this one is already lost…
The Yankees cannot lose a 4 game series. That’s just pathetic.
Wow. AJ looking good. One of the 2 balls the threw that inning was a clear strike on gameday.
Clay, you study film, right? Can we get OTF to watch “Freaks,” so he doesn’t keep attributing its lines to the Ramones?
I’ve actually never seen Freaks, although it is in my Netflix queue. Which I discovered this morning has a limit of 500 movies.
A ball out of the infield would be nice.
The pop-under ads are enough to prevent me from supporting them.
But - hmmm. I think it’s a US cinema history “must.”
[14] Blockbuster is owned by super conservative people who require certain films to give them a “blockbuster edit.” I try to avoid it as much as possible. Netflix’s selection and service is just too good. And the addition of streaming video is great.
what the hell AJ, the first inning was so good!
That was a strike.
I use emule…
And yes, what the Trout happened?
Do NOT issue a walk (ok, or permit any other undesirable outcome) here!
Nix is batting .225… this is suboptimal.
Ball 4 was a strike too. AJ is getting hosed.
How many of the others were strikes?
Ball 2 and Ball 4 were clear strikes. AJ had him looking twice.
So, will this inning ever end?
Well, shit.
Sam, Sam, Sam - you can’t predict baseball!
If gameday is accurate, Burnett is pitching well, but getting blasted.
Somethings off.
I a now officially less worried about the Beuhrle game than any other in this series.
Same shit as last August. I love when a game is over 35 minutes in. What a good Saturday.
If this lineup had Molina, this would have been a house money line-up. Without the house money of course.
Are these guys really that banged up?
Also, what does Cody Ransom have on Cashman? Naked pictures of his wife?
gotta love the 10 batter inning. So much fun.
In my neverending quest of trying to predict baseball, I ask: Will the Yankees even have a semblance of a rally this inning? I am going to predict no, with the hitters that are up.
You mean the upcoming one, I hope, Clay
True Yankee moment?
They’ve already made substitutions, Sam? I didn’t realize they had any of those coming up.
Buck (about Hairston): “He may never play everyday, but he will never hurt you.”
My cat just coughed up a Hairston.
And I don’t even have a cat.
I’ll take it.
Please tell me that the out isn’t a double play.
What a waste of space Cody Ransom. The first god damn pitch.
So it’s not Buck, it’s someone else. Anyway, doesn’t matter.
Hurrah, a pop-up!
A “no out!” I LOVE “no out"s!
Wow.
I guess the answer is - yes, Swisher does have at-bats that don’t go to 3-2.
Derek Jeter’s winning percentage is something that counts in his favor? He must really be responsible personally for all those wins by himself, right?
How do these people, who comment on baseball on a weekly/daily basis, don’t get the first fundamental thing about baseball?
More evidence that you can’t predict baseball.
Thank you, Tex.
Mute button is an excellent invention of humankind. Finally, peace of mind.
walking here, looking forward to watching this game, listening to the radio which I turned off after Sox loaded the bases, wish I were surprised at the score as we cleverly maneuver our way out of the AL East so Boston can not block us in the waiver wire. In chess it is called a sacrifice.
Does that mean the team’s winning percentage in games in which Jeter played/started?
and now I caught the lineup Ransom at first base-what a fucking joke. Did this guy pass a civil service exam to stay on this team? I get that he’s likeable but he should havve been GONE when Hairston was traded for. What a way to treat Shelly not to mention is there anyone other then Mayo who doesn’t think Shelly was a bigger offensive threat then this member of the Yankees 21st century all time sucking team along wiht Mitre and Nieves.
Honestly, why can’t they use technology to get ball and strike calls right? Does anyone really have this wonderful nostalgia for the bad calls that make the umpires “a part of the game?” Or perhaps for the narcissistic ejection of players and managers?
Don’t know, it’s awful though.
Does that mean the team’s winning percentage in games in which Jeter played/started?
Yeah, that would be my best guess as to what that even means.
Honestly, why can’t they use technology to get ball and strike calls right? Does anyone really have this wonderful nostalgia for the bad calls that make the umpires “a part of the game?” Or perhaps for the narcissistic ejection of players and managers?
They absolutely have to do that. This is pure, utter bullshit that major league umpires would screw up calls that leads to altering ABs, and sometimes games.
now that we got Hairston I know that it must be true that Cody is holding one of George’s grandkids for Ransom and promises not to hurt him in exchange for playing time. Depressing yesterday hearing 1-Mitre will get more starts, 2-there are no plans to put Hughes in the rotation even if Joba’s innings limit is met and 3- Ransom is still on this team.
The beauty of Ransom is he can fill all four positions on the 21st century Yankees all suck team.
I apologize. My cat did not cough up a Hairston. Actually, she coughed up a Ransom.
Yankees have two runners on but fear not, Cody Ransom to the rescue. And two outs.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrghghh!
Cody Ransom is impervious to being fired. Just like Minaya.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrghghh!
For those who do not know, “aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrghghh!” is the sound a wombat makes when Cody Ransom screws up an at bat again.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrghghh!
[57] The Ransoms come out the other end, Pete.
Uh well, I think today is a wasted day. Hopefully they avoid the sweep tomorrow. This line-up could probably stand a chance if Burnett was doing something right, but that being out of the way, I predict with complete certainty that the Yankees are going to lose this one.
Who’d have thought that the phrase “ransom me” would become a synonym for ... another phrase?
Good thing Shelley wasn’t up there, he might have struck out for goodness sake. Speaking of sucking there has to be a plan b for a 5th starter. As bad as Tomko is he probably would have been a better option then Mitre, or Towers??. I love how they talked about Sergio last night that you have to remember he’s coming off an injury not noting that he always sucked, he was never merely not good , he has been terrible his whole career, and I know the injuries to Wang and IPK hurt but a $200 milliom team should have been able to find someone better after Wang’s early struggles. And once we got Hairston there was no reason to keep Codeine.
Codeine? He’s the opposite of codeine. He creates the need for codeine.
And - Sam, how many times do you have to be told - you can’t do that!
He hits like he’s on Codeine or Seconal or some drug in the downstairs department.
The offense is going to get a couple runs back this inning.
There are many people out there in the wide world who are not on the major league roster of the New York Yankees and yet for whom I possess a genuine liking and admiration, for whom I wish only the best. For the love of God, can we not make Cody Ransom one of them?
Who the F is “Steve Swisher” ?
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrghghh!
Wait, I may have to take that back (although I’m not doing it yet), apparently Gameday just screwed up…
Almost everyone of those balls was a strike.
fuck these umpires.
Clay, Gameday agrees. Astounding.
Walking the #9 hitter with the bases loaded? Wow. Just wow.
Maybe we can give Ransom and Mitre Presidential Medals of Freedom and graciously exit them from the team. Wasn’t that done recently with a few incompetents in another arena recently?
A “no out!” I LOVE “no out"s!
We need to get Hairston up with the bases loaded is what we need to do.
AJ you’ve been great lately but this was not a good time coming off two losses to stink and when you don’t have your best command/stuff do you have to be this bad? What’s that they always say about good pitching being infectous, maybe AJ got Mitritis
Please God not a DP… please!..
Holy crap - it happened!
[80] - Answered.
If I were Danks, I would walk in a run with Hairston up to face Ransom.
This team’s baserunning WBE
Can someone explain what happened there? Posada have to hold up because it might be caught?
It got a run in. Maybe it presages, as I had hoped, the other runs.
Silly me - no magic can foil the Curse that is Cody Ransom.
Good thing Shelley didn’t get that AB. Just like in a court of law can we simply stipulate that shithead made out. Why in the name of common sense is this terrible, terrible player on this team, let alon PLAYING.
86-they said Posada was deked but it seems to me that Posada is not only slow but a very poor baserunner but at least he doesn’t suck like Ransom.
Has anyone ever asked Cash why Ransom is on this team let alone in the lineup?
Why do we presume that Cody Ransom is a good guy?
He can jump supernaturally high - wouldn’t a spawn of Satan have powers like that?
He was left unscathed in a tumbling bus crash - isn’t that just what we’d expect of an agent of Hell?
Is Bruney back? If the Bruney of the beginning of the season has returned, that’s worth this game.
(Sigh.) Or not.
A “no out!” I LOVE “no out"s!
(I’m having a bit of trouble keeping this enthusiasm genuine. But… just go with it.)
We could really use some good stuff out of Tex/ARod here.
Smell 4-6-3 here
Caño is due for more adjustment with RISP.
This is a huge AB for Cano. A hit here changes the game.
Oh well
