Once again, the umpires blow a big call.  There should be a Major League counter for that.  It would be around 1,239 this season.

Did the ball hit the ground?

I saw “In play, run(s)” during Gerald Laird’s at bat but now he showed him lining out to Cano.  What is actually happening?

I think gameday is just being an ass.

Shoot me, I’m a Yankees fan.

THAT was a run scoring play. fuck.

Thanks, Andy Fletcher you piece of shit.  I hope you and Gerry Davis both get your asses handed to you in a barfight and never officiate another baseball game again.

I saw “In play, run(s)” during Gerald Laird’s at bat but now he showed him lining out to Cano.  What is actually happening?

Here’s what happened, it was a line out but the 2nd base ump called that it hit the ground.  The umpires reconvened and ruled it a line out.  So it was a dead ball after that and every runner goes back.

I saw “In play, run(s)” during Chris Davis’ at bat and then it showed runs scoring.  Gameday sucks.

Never seen a play like that before. Weird.

And that call could cost the DP.

Never seen Posada do that.

Great, Abreu finally makes a good throw and Pudge gets rammed at home plate….

Its too bad the Yankees have to face Tommy Hunter tonight because two runs would otherwise seem like a surmountable deficit.

Oh good, now Pudge may be hurt on the collision at home.  This Yankee team is falling right to pieces.

And that call could cost the DP.

Actually, not really.  Cano immediately protested the call instead of throwing to double off a runner.

We have had the worst luck I can imagine.

Oh man, Pudge is out of the game.

That’s hilarious how bad that is.

This season won’t be complete until every player on the roster has been injured.

Actually, not really.  Cano immediately protested the call instead of throwing to double off a runner.

But if the ump got the call right, Cano had a chance to double off the runner on second. Don’t you think?

Cano to break up the perfect game…

Cano didn’t get the *no hit* memo.

Wait, what? Collision at the plate?

Molina is the man

Yeah, he hurt his knee on a collision at the plate. He can’t put any weight on it at the moment and is in the clubhouse getting treatment.

This season won’t be complete until every player on the roster has been injured.

Who does this even leave?

Cano and Melky?

But if the ump got the call right, Cano had a chance to double off the runner on second. Don’t you think?

Good point.  Now I’m pissed again.

“Can’t find a better man…”

Of course, Molina had to be running and can’t score on that.

Of course Peter Abraham did not understand the call.

Who does this even leave?

Cano and Melky?

Might be a good idea to not have this conversation, ok?

We need a groundball, Jeter. You can do it!!!

Maybe it was best not to give up on the offense after two innings, huh?

“Who does this even leave?

Cano and Melky?”

Actually even Cano’s been hurt.  He was hitting .550 and doing his usual psycho 2nd half stuff, then gets that bruised hand and then can’t buy a hit for a week before he had to sit out.  Hopefully he’s OK now.

Yeah, it’s getting hard to find guys on the roster who have evaded injury thus far this season.

Oh no, they’re playing the infield in.

Jeter could hit much better with the infield in.

Ha.  Jeter’s new ground ball proclivity pays off.

Kaptain Klutch.

Signs of life, finally..

Give up on WOE? Never!

Jeter gave up… and got away with it.

Wow, Cleveland sucks.  They score 5 runs off Kazmir in 4.1 IP, get a decent pitching performance out of Sowers and Perez for 8 innings, and still lose…

Its a good thing Jeter always hustles.. oh wait, it looks like he really wasn’t running that one out too hard.

Now that proves he’s klutch.

We would have been better off with Jeter getting picked-off.

Hello Alex, wake up kaballah man.

Splendid.

Wow, Cleveland sucks.  They score 5 runs off Kazmir in 4.1 IP, get a decent pitching performance out of Sowers and Perez for 8 innings, and still lose…

The Rays scored 6 times in the 9th without making an out in the 9th.

Did we miss a strike when the camera were on ESPN announcers?

Yeah, though the Yankees scoring 6 runs off Borowski last April with 2 outs was probably worse.  It’s too bad that Rafael Betancourt’s arm is probably suffering from Scott Proctor syndrome and he sucks now…

*camera was

It’s too bad that Catalanotto is a left-handed hitter, or else the Yanks, I’m sure, would have taken a flier on him some time ago. He’s a nice bench player.

I thorouhly enjoyed Mr. GQ Sean Avery in the Rangers booth last half-inning.  He was rocking the button-down with the top three buttons undone - sunglasses perched on the shirt, and openly wishing that Erin Andrews was around to be interviewed.

Though actually, Betancourt was never abused like Proctor. He still Ks a batter per inning, but he’s given up 11 homers this year.  Maybe he’s just simply having a bad year.

thank goodness for a fast inning.

I’m sorry - to “interview” him.

Yeah, the Yankees really miss Proctor. smile

Baseclogger clogs all the bases.

Hehehe….Giambi’s streaks are funny.

Don- that’s NEVER what we argued about Scott Proctor at the time he was traded.

Baseclogger with all those walks, rally killer with all those home runs…

I love how Cano does not want to walk.

lol Sterling:

“You know if Damon, Jeter, Abreu, A-Rod, Giambi, Nady, and Cano, all hit like they have their whole lives, the Yankees will be OK.”

Scott Proctot is a silly diversion, and aimed at you-know-what.

Now doggone it! Don’t make me have to say what you-know-what is.

Schowalter and Martin. Easy.

No tests required for Pudge’s knee - I like the sound of that. So the Yanks will just have to use Molino for a few days.

And since Molino was going to catch Moose ANYways, it REALLY isn’t a big deal.

Manny has three dingers as a Dodger - wow.

No tests required for Pudge’s knee - I like the sound of that.

That could mean everything from the knee down just fell off.

Ha, that’s true, Clay.

He’s day to day while they’re fitting him for a cyber-knee.

Josh Hamilton = Micky Mantle- Noaln Ryan

Thanks, Ryan.

Kaptain Klutch!

Good one, Jeter.

holy cow! A double!

The Yankees just need five more runs to win.

Congratulations to the Texas Rangers! You win the 2008 award for the team with the ugliest relief pitcher.

The prowess is back.

This Ryan interview will never end.

I like it when people come in and comment on the game… BUT THEY NEVER DO!!! They just have a seperate interview.

that was the best swing ive seen jeter have in a while. Did ken singleton just call madrigal an “OG” if so that was the coolest thing ive ever heard

Man, Marlon Byrd is a pain in the ass.

Similarly, The Rangers booth interviewed Charley Pride for nearly a full inning.  Also painful.

Well, that sucked.

Especially since they need five more runs to win the game.

That was joke, Alex.

And agreed that Jeter’s swing was awesome.  Great pitch, really.

A-Rod not doing so hot in Texas.

Oh yeah, when Joba returns, back to the 8th inning. Well some fool had to say it on national TV, why not Sutcliffe?

Alex morphs into Derek with those GIDP’s. Maybe Alex thinks that is part of the prowess?

Was that trapped? wink

A-Rod’s hit into so few DPs so far this year, it might just be a correction, though I hope not.

Cano’s defensive prowess returning

I want Sid to buy lotto tickets for me. He’s luckier than a pallet of Frosted Lucky Charms.

Once, twice, three times a Nady!

If Cano didn’t have bad luck on his hits, he’d have no luck at all.

lol Cano never catches a break.  Ever.

Once, twice, three times a Nady!

Been thinking about that one all day haven’t you

LOL thurm!

It is *The Return of Prowess* opening night in Texas.

Hardball Times has Cano at .299/.333/.439 going by batted ball data.  He obviously hasn’t been at his best, but it’s insane how unlucky he’s been.

Cano should have a sitcom…we can call it “Cano, Don’t Ya Know”

im going to get on casting tomorrow

Been thinking about that one all day haven’t you

Actually popped into my head the other day, and didn’t think of it again until he smoked that one.

The one I’ve been thinking all day is “Luck be a Nady tonight!”

Way back in the 20th century, Bill James wrote the first essential book about baseball managers. Chris Jaffe has just written the second.

From now on, whenever I have a question about a manager, Jaffe's book will be the first and last one I reach for.

John Brattain Memorial Fund

The Hardball Times has set up a memorial fund for John Brattain's family. He left behind a wife and two teenage daughters.

Four years ago, I found from personal experience how generous the online community can be to its own in their hour of need. I am now literally begging you to be even more generous than you were to me.
