Have I ever mentioned how much I dislike interleague play?

I would play Christian in CF today rather than Melky.  The former would have at least an outside chance of reaching base.  Pettitte will have a better day at the plate than Melky.

Don, don’t lose sight of that rally banana!

We’re going to need rally bananas to deal with these friggin’ rain delays pretty soon.

Why is the Knicks newest draft pick announcing the Mets lineup?  FOX is seemingly always searching for new ways to be asinine.

I’m so glad that FOX is not showing the Yankees Mets game right now.

??

Which game are they showing in your parts?

Throw strikes, Andrew Eugene.

Chicago. for some unknown reason.

I can understand showing the chicago showdown over the NY one on the west coast.  I mean, from a purely baseball point of view, it’s the better matchup.

Because they know how much you enjoy watching Javy Vazquez.

I love how McCarver was implying a big factor in the Mets collapse last year was because Damion Easley was hurt.

Yeah, I was going to comment on that, but was too lazy to type.

Ya know what would be nice here?  Lots o’ runs and/or no Ks.

Reports of Johan Santana’s demise have been greatly exaggerated.

look at that Derek Jeter range up the middle.

Giving up a homer to Ramon Castro? Lame.

Melky strikes out on one pitch next inning.

The Mets have no class who plays soulja boy after a homer? Blatant disrespect.

Melky strikes out on one pitch next inning.

Oh c’mon, give the kid at least a little credit.

I say it takes at least 2 [pitches].

Melky making Santana work?  What the hell

I cant take the mindless babble of Mcarver and Buck. Especially Buck, who has been given more for nothing in their life than him? I doubt he’s earned a thing in his life.

Yankee pitchers have better plate discipline than Robinson Cano.

I cant take the mindless babble of Mcarver and Buck. Especially Buck, who has been given more for nothing in their life than him? I doubt he’s earned a thing in his life.

I guess there are positives about not watching the NY game.

Dude,  you have no idea.

I must be really old because I have no idea what soulja boy is…

I must be really old because I have no idea what soulja boy is…

That’s a good thing.

Whatever that crap was that they played after Castro’s homer, I assume.

Also, in terms of who has been given more for nothing in their life, look no further than our dear president - who would be flirting with the biddies in some country club if not for his family name.

26: Its a super shitty hip hop song that i’ve heard FAR too often in college dorms. Truly sickening.

In that case, I guess I should be thankful I’m no longer in college smile

Holy hell that was scary as fuck. Thank god that stayed in the yard and Melky flagged it down.

Yikes, that was scary.

How can the A’s possibly be able to sign this kid over the Yanks.http://www.saberscouting.com/2008/06/26/michelinoareport/

I WANT THAT ARM.

Looks like the Yankees are making Santana work, but it’s to drive up a pitch count if you don’t get some hits or walks.

How can the A’s possibly be able to sign this kid over the Yanks.http://www.saberscouting.com/2008/06/26/michelinoareport/

Man, I don’t know…He certainly sounds intriguing, but $4-4.5 mil for a 16 year old?  Also, the kid has a choice as to who to sign with, yes?  Who knows, maybe he doesn’t want to go to the Yankees (shocking, I know)?

Whoopee back to back BB’s

Let the parade of LOBs begin…

I have to agree with YM regarding Inoa.  If they get him, fine.  But a teen-aged pitcher is hardly a sure thing.

Well I’m willing to donate 20 bucks towards his signing bonus. Props Arod.

Big spot for the ‘Stache of DOOOOOOOM™

Whoo, ‘Stache ties the game!

Posada makes a productive out, John Sterling (probably) needs a new pair of pants.

As a radio guy, Sterling can be quite liberal with the pants.

Suzyn might have something to say about that.

As a radio guy, Sterling can be quite liberal with the pants.

Well, there’s an unwelcome image. But anything that would drive off Waldman, I’m in favor.

Thanks DJ.  shut eye

...They gave him a hit on that?!  Jesus.

What a joke! that was a HIT?! oh hey sweet dp

It’s raining here in Inwood, or, as I like to call it, “Papilandia.”  I guess there’s a different cloud over Queens.

By the way, what’s going on with Fernando Tatis using the Superman theme song.

Tim McCarver is a fucking moron. That’s all.

It’s raining here in Inwood, or, as I like to call it, “Papilandia.”

So it is, albeit not terribly hard.

By the way, what’s going on with Fernando Tatis using the Superman theme song.

Unlike Michael Kay, he understands the concept of irony.

Unlike Michael Kay, he understands the concept of irony.

You may be giving him too much credit.

I just nearly blew a circuit listening to McCarver critisizing the Yankees for being “indecisive” with Joba. What a fucking moron.

According to Tim McCarver the Yanks have no farm system.  If this guy is going to be on national TV, can’t he at least spend 10 minutes reading Chad Jennings’ blog?  He’s talking about LaTroy Hawkins pitching the 8th now that Joba is in the rotation.  How many times has that happened?  Only high school teachers can be this bad at their jobs and not get fired.

IE, see [52] and [55].

If the Yankees have been anything with Chamberlain, it’s decisive. One can disagree with their decisions (though I think one would be incorrect), but one cannot say that they didn’t decide on a course of action and then pursue that course of action.

Throw strikes, Andrew Eugene.

It is unacceptable to walk Damion Easley twice.

And McCarver, M&MD, every talking mediahead speaks about the 8th inning situation as if it’s completely static. As if the Yankees are doomed to have Farnsworth pitching the eight for all of eternity. This could very well change by the all-star break, or the trade deadline. And no one, particularly the guys getting paid to consider these possibilities while on air, talks about that.

Is there a reason why the Yankee pitchers are incapable of retiring Met 2b-men?  Castillo yesterday, Easley today.

Mwahahahaha, Reyes you moron!

Andy giveth, Andy taketh away.

C’mon ‘Stache…

Defend the honor of the thong!

The thong weeps.

Now Jorge has to defend the honor of the pissy hands.

And now Cano has to defend the honor of…?

Pity the fool that walks anyone to face Robby

Melky: still sucks.

I’m not sure what distasteful thing’s honor Robbie was defending, but he did so successfully.

You could preserve fish on Melky he’s so cold.

Is hand-peeing thing about Posado really true?

Is hand-peeing thing about Posado really true?

I think so. It kind of goes along with the no batting gloves thing.

Three innings against the bullpen.

By the way, Delgado looks 50 years old.  He looks like he should be leaning back in an old rocking chair.

It kind of goes along with the no batting gloves thing.

That’s really nasty.  I can’t believe people shake hands with him…As for no gloves, Dougie Eyechart doesn’t use them either.  Is he a pisser too?

....Ew.

If the delay is reasonably short, Pettitte will go back out there.  It’s quite humid, so I don’t there’s much of a worry about him tightening up.

Gah, another effin’ rain delay.  At least it’s an official game now.

Three innings against the bullpen.

With the rain delay, are they going to get 4 innings against ours?

That’s really nasty.  I can’t believe people shake hands with him…

I think he does it in the shower.

As for no gloves, Dougie Eyechart doesn’t use them either.  Is he a pisser too?

If he isn’t, he should be, judging by the relative batting prowess of him and Posada.

And of course, here in “alto” Manhattan, nary a drop is falling.

Also, Mariano hasn’t thrown since last weekend, he should be able to pitch two innings if need be.

I think he does it in the shower.

1.  TMI
2.  Still nasty.

And of course, here in “alto” Manhattan, nary a drop is falling.

Just started pouring again here on the UWS.  Some thunder rumblings, too.

Ive heard only Alou is the only pisser in baseball. They have a nasty solution you can wash your hands with that does the same job and smells the same as piss but actually isnt piss. I read thats what Posada uses, probably at the request of teammates.

So it’s I Can’t Believe It’s Not Urine? If it smells the same, why bother?

Wow the White Sox bullpen is stacked.

That’s quite the effortless 97 mph fastball Thorton throws.  Damn that’s nasty.

so how bad is the weather situation? Anybody seen the radar and got a guess on when baseball will resume?

By the way, Delgado looks 50 years old.  He looks like he should be leaning back in an old rocking chair.

Randy Johnson looks like he died four years ago.

Because he died four years ago.

Randy Johnson looks like he died four years ago.

Because he died four years ago.

Haha.  Too bad he didn’t die a few years earlier…

Looks like Bobby Jenks shaved off that nasty thing he strapped to his chin. Praise the lord.

Terrible productive out-hitting by the Cubs there.

I think you meant UN-productive out hitting…Mirroring the best traditions of WOE, there.  Bad Cubbies.

They did a terrible job of hitting into productive outs.

Call the game! Call the game! Call the game!

Rain has stopped.  They’ll restart any minute.

Way back in the 20th century, Bill James wrote the first essential book about baseball managers. Chris Jaffe has just written the second.

From now on, whenever I have a question about a manager, Jaffe's book will be the first and last one I reach for.

John Brattain Memorial Fund

The Hardball Times has set up a memorial fund for John Brattain's family. He left behind a wife and two teenage daughters.

Four years ago, I found from personal experience how generous the online community can be to its own in their hour of need. I am now literally begging you to be even more generous than you were to me.
