No Ransom? But we won yesterday.
Frog, we can only pretend to know the complex formulas that go into creating each lineup. Girardi’s mind is like a mechanical swamp shrouded in mysterious baseball fog.
posada at c in a day game after a night game (that was won)? wow.
b-b-b-b-b-b-baseball. darling.
Damon is having an Abreu’s type of season.
Damon is comically bad in the field. He now looks like some random guy they pulled out of the stands to play left.
Sub-optimal start here. Come on CC.
He now looks like some random guy they pulled out of the stands to play left.
And are paying millions of dollars to do so.
CC walked a total of 8 guys in 2007-2008 (number made up). What the hell changed?
No control today.
It’s Adam Everett. Throw effing strikes.
But he might hit it over the infielders’ heads.
New York Battlin’ Yankees.
Wild pitches - a Yankee staple.
Hopefully he puts together some quick innings. I’d like to save the bullpen as much as possible with Joba, Pettite, and Mitre coming up.
There is a noticeable difference in approach from both CC and A.J. from their previous seasons. I’m not ready to say it’d the pitching coach, but I’m not sure what the hell else could be the problem. Does putting on pinstripes screw with your ability to throw strikes and K people?

Two Joba starts back, I was out watching where Posada was offering his target, and it was often well off of the plate. It was particularly frustrating to watch when Joba was ahead in the count…Posada just put his glove way off of the plate every time. I don’t have tv, but look for where he’s putting his target today.
It’s frustrating watching good pitchers struggle in a Yankee uniform.
How about good pitchers not struggle against Yankee uniforms?

Posada and Sabathia is proving to be a worse collaboration than Bowie and Jagger. The lack of pacing between the two of them is jarring to watch.
Lookin’ sharp, CC. Lookin’ sharp.
We might get 6 innings out of CC after all. 7 if we’re really lucky.
I can’t remember where I was during David Cone’s perfecto. Does that make me a bad Yankee fan?
Popups with runner on base - a Yankee staple.
Jeter is good at hitting baseballs.

Well you’re clean now - so those days are behind you.
Full-counts to Adam Everrett make me sad.
Hey CC, ya don’t have to go 3-2 on EVERYONE.
At least Sabathia is striking people out. No one else seems to be doing that.
A Mr. Phil Hughes is on the line for you.
Sorry, no other starters.
Just rub it in some more that Hughes isn’t starting, why don’t you.
Will do, until he is.

There’s only one word to describe this Sabathia start. Battle.
Can the lineup be described as battling as well?
There’s only one word to describe this Sabathia start. Battle.
Battle Garfield.
I have never seen a 98 MPH pitch come out of anyone’s hand easier than it comes out of Verlander’s.
It must be the Joba theory of pitching taking hold. Throw as many pitches as you can, as early as you can.
Toronto helping us out so far.
I really can’t believe Sabathia got through 6. And without allowing a run.
Swing at the first pitch - good one, Melky.
Why no Gardner?
Verlander is really good. Too bad MLB rules forbid him from pitching against Boston.
I really can’t believe Sabathia got through 6. And without allowing a run.
as painful as it has been, CC battled well.
CC in battle mode.
Oh, I wouldn’t trust the YES gun today. It had some CC sliders and changeups at 94 earlier. Something definitely wrong with the gun.
The battlin’ Yankees pitching corps.
Ugh.
That was a critical AB. Oh well.
At least it’s not the battlin’ Yankees pitching corpse.
7 shutout IP from CC today. Ugly, yet effective.
Run…
Alright CC.
With CC it could be battlin’ pitching corp(ulence).
And very good he was, in spite of all those pitches. Joba, are you paying attention?
Considering he was at 51 pitches through 2, I’ll take it.
Yay Rod!
A-Rod!!!!!
(It worked!
)
Right before that last pitch, I said to my dog that this game would be a 1-0 win with an A-Rod HR. Totally seriously, you guys.
A-Rod is still awake.

That was more like an A-Grenade.
[57] If you have a magic dog that grants wishes, you could probably have done better.
Sweeeeet.
So unclutch.
So, who get’s the 8th?
Seeing eye single for Cano.
[57] If you have a magic dog that grants wishes, you could probably have done better.
Good point. I’ll grab a powerball ticket later after having a chat with the pup.
[63] Swisher, because we’re about to score 20 runs.
Run more run?
Swisher, because we’re about to score 20 runs.
Fixed that for you.
Melky pulls a Gardner.
Might want to have the dog check, Jon.
Great stutter move/shield play by Swisher.
For what its worth… i just finished reading “The Yankee Years”... and, no sooner than i close the book and step inside did ARod slug a HR and the Yanks put together a short rally for another run…
Coincidence?
Hmmmmmmmmmm
Go Yanks!
She just confirmed that it will be a 2-0 win.
Meanwhile, north of the border the Blue Jays have awoken and are crushing the Sox 6-2 with the Jays batting in the bottom of the 8th…
BTW, the Sox are playing hard ball with Jason Bay’s contract… he wants 5 for 70MM and they are offering 3 for 33… talks have been stopped… this will come back to bite them in the ass…
Jonathan… how is she at picking stocks? Mutual funds?
Automatic ball?
Damn flyball tendency.
SOB
The dog lies.

There was a quote from Theo on MLBTR saying he made an “aggressive” offer. Wow. bullshit.
Former Yankee Marcus Thames.
Thames - marque lefty killer.
Also, it would be awesome if this game was on MLB Extra Innings since its free and all right now, but MLB has those Bilo blackout rules.
Aceves’s HR/9 was 1.25 coming into the game. League average is 1.04.
I misunderstood her originally. She said it would be a one run game. All good now.
Sterling says, “going back, going back ... makes the catch.” Where? Near warning track? On warning track?
I hate the radio voices.
I’d still rather have him in there than basically any other available reliever right now. Hughes can’t pitch, Mo has the 9th, who would you have used?
One more, Alex.
[80] I also read they could considering signing Holliday instead, as they would lose their first round pick, but then probably receive a better first rounder and a compensatory pick.
I would have no problem giving Bay 5 for $70M. They are paying Damon $13M/season, same for Matsui. I see no problem replacing them with one player earning $14M/season. Bay turns 31 at the end of this season. That and I think he is the better player going foward than Holliday so it makes the competition weaker.
[86] Swisher has a 0.00 ERA.
[89]That will probably be his career ERA when he retires.
5 for $80M is even reasonable.
Exit light…
Field conditions again? Or has Girardi come to his senses re: Damon’s current defensive “abilities”?
No doubt Bay is worth the $$$, my point is that the Sox are being cheap with him… And, with the NESN cable contract, they have money to pay him…
One down, two to go to never never land
I guess it is just that Damon just batted, so in case of a tie, Gardners bat would appear latter.
Wish i could’ve seen that one…
Jeter!
Jeeeet!!
I think Damon’s defensive disabilities are fairly obvious to everyone at this point.
Wow, Jeter. Hella nice throw.
Dammit, people need to stop shattering my dreams of a rational world!
