Free mlb extra innings preview on most cable providers this week.

Thanks for the tip.

Gameday has most of the balls just outside or on the edge of the zone.

4-pitch walk already.  Way to go, A.J.

Pretty decent range by Jeter on MCab’s RBI groundout.

4 pitch walks are not welcome around these parts.

Strike zone is fine.  A.J. is not.

a strike!

Robbie saved a run.

A 12/9 B/S ratio.  Not good.

Turn on the wind tunnel, please.

The point of [3] re [9] was that he appears to need to adjust a little and if so should be ok ratiowise.

Go go Godzilla.

Kinda handy having SG’s RP list as a previous post.  Pitch count up to 31 on French.

AJ working on another 4 pitch walk.

Freakin’ pathetic.  Another 4-pitch walk. And to Anderson.  Get your damn act together.

Gameday had that one on the umpire.

No, a few close ones.  But when you’ve been struggling, don’t accept any gifts.

And guy on 2nd with no outs, again.

Wow, A.J.  How many more eff-ups can you makes?

Huh. Tigers apparently lead the league in GIDP.

But we’ve had a lot of injuries early.

I can has one more out?

They should bring the IF and OF in EVERY time Adam Everett comes to the plate, he barely features outfield grass power.

Sometimes Burnett pitches like a 21 year old call up.

First PaDJ after the break.

It’s kinda frustrating to watch Burnett pitch.

I think I am going to make a bold prediction: that one game win against the Red Sox that SG promised (and subsequently withdrew) is not going to come on a Burnett start.

You just need to look at Luke French to see what throwing strikes can do for your numbers. The guy has fringy stuff, but seems to like throwing strikes.

Looking at French one sees that he’s a lefty.

Also, the “prospect” is going to start for the Yankees as the fifth starter.

Suzyn: “Those are stats.  The people who are playing are people.”

People = people?  Huh.

[28] And they create statistics, right. And those numbers matter, right? I mean, you don’t bench Babe Ruth for Cody Ransom because Ransom is more gritty, right?

It certainly helped AJ against Inge that strike one was called that.

[27] Great to see they have realized the best way to utilize Hughes is 2 appearances per week, one inning or 9 pitches per appearance (whichever comes first)

Yay for innings without runs from the opposition!

People = people?  Huh.

I think that would be an identity.

Stastics are useless.

By the way, whatever happened to yup?

So, Luke French is not throwing many more strikes. Which is good news, because his stuff kinda sucks.

I thought this was CoorsEast?

Was that caught on the wall?

[38] Warning track, but off the bat it looked crushed and Teix appeared to think it was gone on contact.

On the track.

Needs more offense.

I believe the Big Ugly is the answer to the trivia question.

Unbelievable.

Ok, thumbs down on that walk.

Girardi has his face down on the railing, he is either sleeping or frustrated with AJ.

And a pitchout.  Ack.

[46] Perfect way to help out a pitcher struggling to find the zone.

People = people?  Huh.

Soylent Green is people.

Nice DP there, smooth turn by Cano.

Sometimes Burnett Matsui pitches swings like a 21 year old call up.

fixed.

Soylent Green is people.

Hell is . . . other people.

Yanks certainly have a knack for popping up with men on base.

Granderson > the Yankees tonight

That’s what happens when you continually fall behind 2-0.

Shoulda walked him.

this team….and its risp with less then outs problems…makes me wanna choke someone

This game has “whatever” written all over it.

Dare I say it - Cy French?

Moose is pitching at the Old Timers game on Sunday. Think they can convince him to hang around and be the 5th starter?

Best throw by Melky of the season.

Who is the commentator with Singleton in Yes?

Yanks certainly have a knack for popping up with men on base.

Too many of them tend to overswing.

[61] Yeah… the Melkman really ‘delivered’ that one…

Sure, what’s another walk on the season, eh A.J?

Walks are annoying.

1:4 K/BB ratio tonight.  That’s not good, right?

Hmmm, Senator Al doesn’t like Mussina for the Hall of Fame.

Belated thanks to tedbrogen for the MLB Extra Innings tip…

Is battling spreading all over the rotation?

I have to admit, the rotation has been a bit of meh this year, outside of Wang, who has been downright horrible.

He swung.

Yeah, what’s one more walk?

[70] Rumor has it that it’s free preview through Wednesday, so we can all get a look at uber-prospect Mitre.

Is battling spreading all over the rotation?

Contagious epidemic of battlin’, apparently.

For Fuchs sake.  Another?

[71] Hughes was good before being converted to a ROOGY.

Ya know… it’s not that AJ is walking batters… it’s who he walking… Clete Thomas???

Oh good, Robertson warming.  Another guy that can’t find the strikezone with a map.

Burnett has nothing tonight, we’ll be very lucky if he gets out of this

Ok. Now make them pay

Runs…

In a summation of his start, my gameday has Burnett throwing a pitch that says in play outs. Followed be a ball.

Cy French.

Stringing together a bunch of hits here wouldn’t suck.

Damon on first with Teix and ARod due up in CoorsEast. This game should be tied up shortly.

That works.

Whoopsie…

The ice-cream man in my neighborhood, who may or may not be a drug dealer, is impossibly obnoxious. He just sits outside my house ringing his damn bell.

Yay, Yankees catch a break!

And Singleton/Leiter were just talking about the improved Tigers’ defense.

Yeah… great Tiger defense…

And Singleton/Leiter were just talking about the improved Tigers’ defense.

Wow, Cabrera’s defense sucks!

The ice-cream man in my neighborhood, who may or may not be a drug dealer…

When I was a kid, ice cream men were alchies.
__

That works too.

MelkCab had quite a smirk on his face after gunning down MigCab at 2nd.

Yankees, stunned by Tiger’s generosity, return in kind.

[88] How do you think he makes money? Go get a Popcycle (and, see if he has any roofies)  smile

There is an ice-cream truck in the area that has no ice-cream. This guy has a push cart, so I’m not sure. But I do know that there are very few to no children in the immediate vicinity of my house.

The stimulus plan in action?

An ice cream push cart??!! Now, *that’s* obnoxious!

Way back in the 20th century, Bill James wrote the first essential book about baseball managers. Chris Jaffe has just written the second.

From now on, whenever I have a question about a manager, Jaffe's book will be the first and last one I reach for.

John Brattain Memorial Fund

The Hardball Times has set up a memorial fund for John Brattain's family. He left behind a wife and two teenage daughters.

Four years ago, I found from personal experience how generous the online community can be to its own in their hour of need. I am now literally begging you to be even more generous than you were to me.
