Over/under for team LOB is 12.  Place your bets.

I think both Hughes and Pavano slated to pitch in early evening games.  Best nickname for Pavano The American Idle or The English Patient?

On [1] I’ll take under.  I think you’re overestimating the number of baserunners that WOE will yield.

I’ll take the under.  Bannister with a 2-hit, 3BB CG shutout.

Such a nice day out, it’s almost a shame to spend it frustrated in front of the television.  I may give this “outside” thing a shot.

We didn’t particularly need a good start from Moose today anyway

Yankees can score 3 in their sleep and they play like they’re sleepwalking anyway.

This is familiar. Let see how they f*ck up.

Also, it counts as a hit with risp.

First and second no one out, Abreu and Arod coming up, advantage KC

K or 5-4-3 DP

Now all we need is an ARod GIDP and we’ll have a normal Yankee game.

Something’s wrong with my TV???  WTF???

Well, that was unexpected.

I think Fabian was finally right, just a day later.

I dunno how to react - happiness or pissed that it had to come after Moose screwed the pooch?

I will go with happiness!

Yay, A-Rod!

Even if it was less clutch, I like the idea of scoring runs early to give Moose a chance to get a win today.

That was nice.

After 13 innings last night, it would be good to get to the bullpen fast.

the first inning was moose’s silent protest for his last start

Wow. I feel like I’m in an alternate reality.

Molino!!

Prowess.

This is the day we score 18 enroute to getting shut down by Halliday and Burnett and whoever else starts for the Jays

Brett made me smile.

Dumb baserunning got lucky there

Wow, Gardner is fast.

The dude is really, really fast.

Holy guacamole.  Even Slappy McCrappySwing is getting in on the fun!

Bebop: no Halladay at least.  Thank god for small things.

Awwww damn.  I hoped that might go out too.

That definitely was a nice combination of reckless baserunning, lazy fielding, and a little bit of luck.

Reckless? Aggressive.

I thought this was pretty funny:

Here is your shot at 16 wins Mr. Moose, you cannot complain if you donīt get this.

Gimme a break, Moose!!

Dear Moose,

We’re not looking to set a new record for combined runs in a game.
Please limit the damage.

Love as always,
-YM

The offense is doing well and Moose sucks, what is this, 2007?

Yankee Simian: Halladay pitched yesterday so he could go Thursday on normal rest and I doubt Cito will cut us a break even though Litsch is scheduled

Not that it matters, but Beckett has been getting pounded today too.

Which always leaves a warm and fuzzy feeling.

Yup.  Beckett’s coughed up a 6-spot in the first inning.

It still matters! It still matters!!

He even gave up a double to McDonald.

Beckett’s had 2 great years why do so many people put him in the same league as Halladay or Santana or Poson?

Buck looked like they just invented the stolen base.

“I have to do WHAT now?!?”

Halladay or Santana or Poson?

Poson?

Horrible typing plus kidding

Yeah, it’s too bad, bebop, because it was a good joke!

Yankee Simian: Halladay pitched yesterday so he could go Thursday on normal rest and I doubt Cito will cut us a break even though Litsch is scheduled

This is true,  I forgot there’s an off-day tomorrow.  Does that mean more [Megan Fox][Salma Hayek][Bea Arthur] to look forward to?

Tough to see them do this to Bannister, I like the guy.

Ooooh yeah, the ‘Stache is making a comeback!

That was very nice.

Poor Banny.

So, Moose, all you have to do is give us 5 innings.

Yeah, me, too, Fabian.

Hillman must really hate Bannister.  Poor dude.

I’ll take the under.  Bannister with a 2-hit, 3BB CG shutout.

Isnīt Bannister the nice guy who said his babip was too low and was probably regressing at some point?

j, I’ll happily eat some crow, just splash some lime juice on it.

That’s tough, sorry, Brian.

the road to 1000 runs took a detour, but is now back on track.

That was _of Jeter_.  So he’s going to issue three walks to him next inning.

Isnīt Bannister the nice guy who said his babip was too low and was probably regressing at some point?

Yup, and how!

Feast or famine for the offense with the emphasis on starvation

Isnīt Bannister the nice guy who said his babip was too low and was probably regressing at some point?

I’m not sure if this is exactly what he said, but yeah he is the statistically inclined ballplayer.

They will leave this guy in even if he give us another 10 runs.

They have had 3 outs and everybody has been on base already.

Thanks, YM.

It is hilarious how poor Jason is at throwing the ball.

I really really don’t see how anyone can be that uncomfortable/awkward/terrible at throwing the ball without trying to do just that.

Moose = still excellent fielder.

Much better, Moose!

Better believe it, rilke.

Oh goody, Rasner vs. Burnett on Tuesday.  Good thing I have plans that night.

BTW- Jeter getting hot as completey coincided with me dropping him from my fantasy team. You can all thank me in October.

DP and/or blown call.  Yargh either way.

Blown call, but I guess the umpires would just like the game to move along faster.

What was up with that slide?

Man, A-Rod’s voice must travel far - yelling “Ha” from first base!

Hey, this should increase ARod’s numbers w/RISP, right?  Hilarious.

Well, that at-bat in the first was also with risp.

Beckett’s given up 8 runs and got taken out after 2.1 innings.  It is truly a good day.

Well, that at-bat in the first was also with risp.

I guess what I meant to say is that sometimes the numbers really do NOT tell the whole story.  That ball should’ve been caught, but was scored a hit and so goes in the plus column.  On the other hand, he can absolutely hit the tar out of the ball and have it be caught and then it counts against him.

What’s my point?  I have no idea.

I knew what you were saying, YM, I was just being snarky. Better than this hit was his clutch 9 inning, down by one, risp hit he got friday.

Be nice if Beckett would turn into Jaret Wright

Kay just advocated hitting cops!  i heard it!!!

fire him!

Is it ironic that Kay is asking why people care how long it takes to get the call right?

Karstens is having a regression-to-the-mean day himself.

Good job by Kay to acknowledge his past feelings.

/Mad Dog

I like Moose.

man, if slappy keeps hitting the ball like that, i won’t be able to keep calling him slappy ...

this guy is off the hook

OFF THE HOOK

Fo’ sheezy.

And the 2 inches is for human error guys, not that hard to figure out.

I would let Mike go out for the 7th on a short leash because a.) he’s rolling and b.) I want to see his ERA go down a bit more, I’m really hoping for a Top 3 CY finish.

that explanation was ridiculous and didn’t answer anything. i think leiter just wanted to use the word behoove, and kay just wanted to bitch

Michael Kay doesn’t feel that the quality start definition is good because pitching to a 4.50 ERA isn’t quality. This is the same Michael Kay who earlier mentioned what a huge year A.J. “4.7 ERA” Burnett is having.

it would be silly to take moose out now

Way back in the 20th century, Bill James wrote the first essential book about baseball managers. Chris Jaffe has just written the second.

From now on, whenever I have a question about a manager, Jaffe's book will be the first and last one I reach for.

John Brattain Memorial Fund

The Hardball Times has set up a memorial fund for John Brattain's family. He left behind a wife and two teenage daughters.

Four years ago, I found from personal experience how generous the online community can be to its own in their hour of need. I am now literally begging you to be even more generous than you were to me.
