Glad to see AJ take responsibility for his previous outing. Maybe some of that will eventually rub off on Joba.
annnnnnnnnnnnddddddd there goes my afternoon.
I hope good AJ shows up.
Posada’s ring finger knuckle is apparently what got hit yesterday, it was already sore from a previous incident, and is quite swollen. X-Rays negative. Suzyn said something about them just waiting for the swelling to go down and then they will try to fit him with some sort of device to protect it but allow for flexibility.
I vote for chopping it off, replacing it with a metal ring finger, and making Posada the prototype for robot/human hybrid baseball players.
8 strikes before the first ball. This very well could be good AJ.

We can rebuild him. We have the technology.
Good A.J. is good.
Apparently between today and the last day game, my employer decided that gameday was counter productive and decided to block it.
I like this Mark Teixeira fellow. I think he could turn out to be a big star someday.
I like where this game is going.
Gameday counterproductive? No way!

See if other trackers work such as ESPN gamecast.
The new brunette Evony girl is unbelievably hot.
[11] - By far the best one. Although I am partial to dark haired brunettes.
How so? Vazquez, at least this year, is one of the best pitchers in NL.
And generally, I think he is far better than Penny.
I agree that he is far better than Penny (hence the light note). My point was more that his stuff looks so much better than the performance and that Penny can go from cruising to allowing back to back homeruns in the blink of an eye.
Sterling and Suzyn just mentioned some stat-pack they have, that “tells them everything they would want to know.”
I assume its a blank piece of paper.
Bases clogged, one out - what’s the run expectancy here?
Their starter at over 30 pitches in the first inning? Delightful.
I missed the second out - I see multiple runs here.
Aren’t there two outs?
Cano with the bases loaded. Hoochie Mama! Hoochie Mama!
I missed the second out - I see multiple runs here.
But Cano isn’t “veterany” enough to produce runs with two outs.
[13] Ahh, I see.
Gamecast works!
Though, I already miss the pf/x.
i’m hoping robbie’s BA w/RISP correction comes roaring to life in October.
He hit it good or at least Serling said so FWIW
That could have gone better but to Cano’s credit it looked like he only swung at one bad pitch according to Gameday.
was that really “lined” out. gamecast says so, i feel like cano’s been super-unlucky in this department
Very hard, on line, good read by the lfer.
The joys of living abroad. MLBtv for every game.

Show off.
I like this Mark Teixeira fellow. I think he could turn out to be a big star someday.
If only he learns to stop hitting rally-killing HR and taking rally-killing BB, he just might.
I think AJ has early dinner plans this evening.
[31] Yankee offense trying to sabottage his dinner.
I think AJ has early dinner plans this evening.
Ok, let’s keep him hungry during his starts then.
Is Neftali available today? Probably not. I like the Yankees chances against the rest of the Rangers bullpen.
When do we go back to the tradition of center-fielders who hit like gods? I think that was a fine tradition.
Jonathan, what was the feedback on your (obviously stellar) game call at Fenway?
Did the Yankees bring up Francisco Cervelli or some other catcher to back up Molina while Posada is hurt?
Did the Yankees bring up Francisco Cervelli or some other catcher to back up Molina while Posada is hurt?
I just assumed Swisher became the back up.
I was tinkering with a win probability calculation incorporating WAR, WPA/LI, and a few others and I actually came out with 67.58% as a Yankee win probability today, very close to SG’s 67.1%.
I ran the same calculation for the Mets-Marlins game today and ended up with 106.13% for a Marlins victory. Something off there…..but with Daniel Murphy batting third, perhaps not.
Is Neftali available today?
Has he pitched during this series? I don’t remember seeing him, but I missed a good portion of both games. If he did, I’d kick myself for missing it.

Please take a video of your contortion act and post it for greater good of mankind: Neftali pitched Tuesday. The only human to get a hit off of him was Melky.
It feels like we’re winning by more then one, but we’re not.
[34] He didn’t throw yesterday, but he did throw 2 innings and 42 pitches on Tuesday. So it is doubtful, but if they were up by one in the 8th, I wouldn’t be surprised to see them use him since they are drifting out of the WC race.
Slingplayer is great. Secretly watching Yankee games at work is unparalleled awesomeness.
[41] Probably because AJ has retired 5 of the 8 batters faced on K’s, while the Yankees have had 5 guys reach base and 6 guys record outs.
The only human to get a hit off of him was Melky.
That sounds about right.
if aj gets through the 4th without walking anyone I’ll exhale.
Jonathan, what was the feedback on your (obviously stellar) game call at Fenway?
The 20-11 game? Has it even ended yet?
Chris Davis just struck out for the 117th time this season…in only 287 PA!
If only they had allowed him to have 600 PA this season so we could see if he could actually stay on pace for 244 K.
[44] Yeah, how come the score doesn’t reflect that?
[49] The Yankees don’t “play the game the right way” so they can’t get 2-out hits?
watching neftali reminded me of watching mo in his first season setting up for wetteland. i just remember, mo would come in, play catch with girardi for a few innings and then wetteland would goof around in the 9th.
Nick Swisher showing an unhealthy inclination to pop-out around the left side of infield.
[44] Yeah, how come the score doesn’t reflect that?
I think Girardi is setting things up for the bunt. That should open the floodgates.
i just remember, mo would come in, play catch with girardi for a few innings
That’s pretty much like how Mo still is.
The House that Swisher Had No Part in Building.
We’re winning on points in case it goes to the judges but I’d really like a TKO
Nippert is getting very lucky or the Yanks are very unlucky/crappy with RISP. I can’t tell through gameday.
More proof Cano doesn’t play the game the right way: he makes the third out immediately after the second out without a run being scored.
Cone with a challenge to sabermetricians!
6 Ks? Mr. Burnett, you is impressive today.
Sterling just mentioned the unmentionable.
Make it 7 Ks.
I hate the radio voices.
[55] My scorecard has it: 10-8, 10-9, 10-9.
I blame Sterling.
Jon58:what he say?
I suppose that walk was inevitable, but still 7:1 ain’t bad.
Jim Reynolds is a dick. Pitch 5 to Hamilton was clearly strike 3. He’s being unusually strict on strike 3 calls.
Sterling just mentioned the unmentionable.
Michael Kay on the subject.
Jon58:what he say?
Cone was admiring Molina’s framing ability after a strike three call that he nicely pulled back from off the plate. He wished there was a way of tracking catchers’ ability to frame pitches and asked “all sabermetricians out there” to try and come up with something.
Well this start went straight into the toilet in a hurry.
I suppose that walk was inevitable, but still 7:1 ain’t bad.
That would be ain’t bad. Now?
Would this or would this not happen if Posado was catching?
I blame the radio voices.
and just like that the wheels come off.
This game sucks, we get squeezed by the ump then two two out walks. What is it with this staff giving up two out runs. We lead the lead in that. We blow every chance and they get one chance and hit an Earl Weaver.
[68]
The Rangers just scored three times because we all just listened to Michael kay saying all that.
The GameCast showed the first pitch right down the middle. Somewhat predictable after two straight walks. Burnett doesn’t seem to handle adversity very well.
We’re still winning on points but the ref is threatening to stop the fight if our cornermen can’t fix the cut.
BABIP still 0.000 for Burnett
Two out. The dreaded two out rears its ugly head.
Burnett has been a true three outcome guy today. I would have preferred if he limited his outcome to just the first one. Oh well.
Do Burnett a/o Joba steam too easily.
The Rangers just scored three times because we all just listened to Michael kay saying all that.
You gotta admire AJ, once he loses it, it’s gone.
Irritating.
That’s nice
Sorry, Sam. I was really blaming Michael Kay.
In just the terms that he so loves.
Jose Molina is a prodigious out maker. Let’s find the pixie dust to transform him into a Molino.
please please please damon homerun.
Only 4 more years of AJ!
AJ and Joba need to meet with Depak Chopra.
Please, please Tex homerun
3 BB this inning, if only Molina had just stood there holding the bat instead of swinging.
I find three please’s works well for getting a walk.
3.2 IP, 7BB, 3K. MAKE THIS MAN PAY.
Jeter likes to steal third. Two outs. The point?
And watch, wild pitch right here.
Awesome.
AJ and Joba need to meet with Depak Chopra.
This is funny.
Pretty please with sugar on top-ok I’ll settle for that.
done and done! nicely done bebop.
Yankees finally play the game the right way, get a two-out run.
Nippert - 98 pitches - 52 strikes, 46 balls and 2 ER. Please make this guy pay.
More two out runs please! Pretty please! Cherry on top!
