Anybody else concerned with Chamberlain’s BB rate?
Noting the change of the team name, I would like to pre-emptively blame SG for this loss.
A very small amount, but he’s only made 3 starts and he’s walked 2 intentionally. It’s something to keep a watch on certainly, but considering his stuff and track record I’m not all that worried.

No

Good catch Fabian, it has been fixed.
You better hope it wasn’t too late.
*shakes fist*
I would like to express my admiration for Alex Rodriguez’s baseballistic skills.
What are the odds that he pulls another MVP out of his hat?
decent. He may have to go on a run to get his counting stats up though.
because of his time off from injury.

I really think MVP should always go to the best 8th inning man in the league.
what does this team have to do to get rid of the WOE name?
You better hope it wasn’t too late.
I think we are safe since Padres lineup was not yet posted.
dcristal. shh.
Abreu needs to get his BB rate up if A-Rod’s going to have a chance at this.
So I bet my buddy in San Diego 50 on the series and 100 for a sweep. I texted him after we scored 3 with “$75 to end it right now” and he accepted.
i cant possibly jinx this game…I have been growing my ‘stache and wearing my gold thong
A-Rod really is putting up a quit 1.000+ OPS.
what does this team have to do to get rid of the WOE name?
Be best at scoring runs in the ML, just like they were predicted to do before the start of the season?
Or be on course for 900 runs?
Mostly, I believe, Jeter and Cano have to hit to the point where their numbers become respectable for their positions (.770 OPS for Cano, .800 + OPS for Jeter). I believe that will do it.
trying to figure out how to link someones comments
SG, i was looking for the preseason predictions in archives and couldnt find them…could you point me in the right direction?

You get the URL from the timestamp on the comment. So move your mouse over the text after ‘Posted at’ and right click and do a copy link location or whatever the IE equivalent is. Then you have the URL and you can link to it using standard HTML.

Google.com.
Do you mean the team projectons or individual player projections?
“I really think MVP should always go to the best 8th inning man in the league.”
You mean kyle farnsworth?

I mean the predictions that us individuals posted for the divisions and individual awards.
**testing because I am a moron**

I would like to declare all other innings, except the eighth inning, null and void. The only inning that counts is the eight inning. Any team that wins the eighth inning will be declared winner of a Major League Baseball game.
If that is too extreme, baseball games should be played as 9 consecutive sequences of eight innings.

Drat. Pesky typo.
If that is too extreme, baseball games should be played as 9 consecutive sequences of eighth inning.

Winner. Seriously.
decent. He may have to go on a run to get his counting stats up though.
I think his injury helps his story line. Team blow, A-rod returns, team plays .610 ball or whatever. Also, he’s going to be fresher than normal, he never misses that many games, so who knows what A-rod is going to be able to do with that 15 day break to rest and recharge.
If that is too extreme, baseball games should be played as 9 consecutive sequences of eighth inning.
Almost. it should be 8 consecutive sequences of eighth inning and then the 9th inning. Then the closer can get the save.
Wouldn’t the ideal situation be Joba in the 8th? You know. Like, still pitching? Wouldn’t that make everyone happy? The media gets him in the 8th, and we get him as a starter. Best of both worlds.
No, the ideal situation would be 81 pitches 27 strikeouts. We may have to settle though.
Well, my ideal situation is still part of the ideal situation. The 8th still comes before the 9th, I think.
I think, more specifically, 27 outs by strikeout. No Scott Baker action today please.
I know I’m in the minority here but I do love day-games

Then when the hell does Farnsworth pitch?!
Day games are awesome, they are just difficult to follow. Much better than night games to go to.
is anybody interested in all star game tickets?? i have a pair I am trying to sell
My bad. Joba pitches the 8th inning here, and somewhere in a parallel dimension, Farnsworth pitches a 1-2-3 8th with 9 pitches and 3 ks.
Chamberlain humiliated Gerut there.
Chamberlain annihilated Gonzalez there.
A lovely inning. Splendid, really.
That was pretty dominant.
Joba decided that last game’s lack of strike outs needed to be addressed. Immediately.
Feeling better already
gotta love the 2 k 1 GO 13 pitch inning.
Absolutely Clay, two already!
For those not able to see it, visualize Joba’s strikes hitting the exact spot down to the millimeter. That’s pretty much what happened in the top of the first.
I guess he looked impressive, did he? (I’m not watching the game)
Only unfortunate part of a daygame is my company’s filter blocks mlb.tv, would really have loved to see those K’s.
Damon is just on fire!
I’ll note that Joe doesn’t believe in the House Money lineup.
Sitting Matsui two games in a row though. Is he ok? Just getting some extra rest?
According to gameday, Joba threw 13 pitches the first inning, 11 FB and 2 sliders.
He had his knee drained yesterday.
Matsui had his left knee drained. I believe he’s available to pinch hit.
i get the feeling joba will be pitching the eighth inning today
Infield single! Alright!
are they gonna sell whatever they sucked out of matsui’s knee on e-bay?
hey no GIDP for Jeter, even though he did his best to.
I hope it wasn’t his Karma
The Yanks really ought to consider bringing up an outfielder. Personally, Justin Christian would be a great pinch runner/defensive replacement.
Good work by Skeets there.
you ever just look at the word “eighth”? it’s kind of a freaky word.
you ever just look at the word “eighth”? it’s kind of a freaky word.
Agreed. I always think I’m misspelling it.
you ever just look at the word “eighth”? it’s kind of a freaky word.
Also “strength.”
Really uncool, Alex.
probably some porn he hid from his wife. starting to irritate the meniscus
The fuck was that, Alex? This guy has nothing.
That strike three was a hanger.
What did Abreu do?
You know, I think A-rod’s thing is that, he’ll come through when it’s NOT easy. Because an RBI right there basically meant putting the ball in play anywhere.
What did Abreu do?
Deep fly to left center that Gerut ran down. Both runners advanced.
Ugh. Stupid WOE.
Seriously, that pitch Rodriguez struck out on was just sitting there.
The pitch Giambi struck out on was a good pitch.
Suboptimal.
Wow, how embarassing
I did not see that coming.
what disaster have you wrought SG?
maybe he had a negroplasty and got somebody who had a vaginoplasty’s balls in his knees.
Too many plasties in that sentence.
is this Mariners fire McClaren thing breaking news?
This game is going to play out in one of two ways:
A) The Yankees hammer this Banks and drive him from the game in the fourth inning.
B) The Yankees threaten and fail to really damage this Banks and we’re all pissed that a guy who should have been thrashed managed to wriggle free.
Giambi is less than graceful afield.
Bleh, that was lucky.
Too many Fastballs
How are you going to walk Tony Clark, man? Make him swing the bat.
If he located like he did in the 1st, no such thing.
Eh…was that intentional?
WHY DOES THIS TEAM KEEP WALKING TONY CLARK???
If you ever intentionally walk Tony Clark you should be skinned and gutted.
If he’s going to give up only hard grounders and bloopy flies, Chamberlain is going to win a lot of games. Assuming he doesn’t make a habit of walking former major leaguers like Tony Clark.
On an 0-2 count, Hairston has struck out 21 times out of 36. Cool.
Ok, now he just needs the DP.
Ok, now he just needs the DP.
Or a couple more Ks.
That was really dumb of Gonzalez.
that was terrifying
What did Gonzalez do?
that was awesome
Gonzalez tried to score on a passed ball. Joba blocked the plate for the out.
HE GOT PICKED OFF? And Green K’d? Awesome!
