Great pitcher vs. very good offense or decent pitcher vs. terrible offense. I’m betting on the Yanks but I’m not actually betting because I’m not a real man.
Matsui with a day off against a great right-hander. Poop.
The bad news: Ponson is being considered for a start against the Mets.
The good news: I guess the Yankees have decided Kei Igawa is never again starting a game in the Boogie-down.
The good news: I guess the Yankees have decided Kei Igawa is never again starting a game in the Boogie-down.
So what does the future hold for Mr. Igawa? Does anyone care? It seems like the Yankees are willing to hold onto him for now, if only to fill up a spot in the AAA rotation.
Ponson vs. Mets? Too late for Willie.
As much as I dislike Igawa, he has to be better the Ponson. Right?
eh, probably about even, but he’s been pretty good this year in Texas. Either way the Yankees would have needed someone to take up a AAA spot.
Really Ponson’s ERA is pretty good, but all of his underlying indicators are off-the-charts terrible.
rain delays piss me off.
What is the delay—raining in NY?
OIC.
NY is one of the culinary capitals of the world. And the Yankees just spent the last year looking for a restaurant to partner with and they came up with . . . the Hard Rock Café. I mean, I guess it’s better than Arby’s, or Outback, but really, I mean really, I mean really, I mean really, I mean really, I mean really, I mean really, I mean really, I mean really, what a wasted opportunity.
“what a wasted opportunity”
I guess, but you were expecting what—The Palm? Joel Robuchon? Another Nobu Matsuhisa outpost?
It would have been cool if it was like the Coney Island Nathans I guess.
So I was walking through the rain thinking “at least I can stay inside and listen to the Yankees game,” then I remember that I live in New York.
how hard is it raining?
Or, Frog, like a Dominican place would have been cool. But no big $ from a national chain.
It’s in the 90s and sunny here. Let me tell you how glad I am that I ran this morning.
By the by, better get Detroit back on the radar. Their schedule is as easy as possible for the rest of interleague play. I wouldn’t be surprised if they swept.
Hmmm…I guess St. Louis isn’t that bad - but San Fran then San Diego closed with Colorado? Yikes.
It’s raining pretty hard right now. I got soaked walking from the train station. Glad I went to last night’s game and not tonight!
Fgasparini—Off the top of my head: Patsy’s (with or without the Grimaldis).
Will it be a rainout?
“Patsy’s”
Mmmm, okay. How about the Old Town?
Katz’s!
Brian, is there a reason you (seem to) prefer “by the by” to the more common “by the way”? Just curious.
No reason that I can think of off the top of my head. I’m sure there’s some reason though, right? Maybe I just think it sounds cooler? I really dunno.
Well, I mention Patsy’s because it is in fact a franchise. Katz’s or Artie’s or Second Avenue would be fantastic. But among actual franchises: La Caridad. Or Olive Garden. Or Rosa Mexicana. Or Joe’s Shanghai.
(P.S. Kidding about Olive Garden.)
Dude, La Caridad would’ve been awesome. Joe Shanghai, too.
Abraham claims game should start soon after 8pm.
Abraham claims game should start soon after 8pm.
8pm today, I hope.
They should have come to an arrangement with El Bohio on Tremont. Best pernil sandwich you ever had.
lessss gooooo
Cy Rasner.
The whole stadium should have local restaurant stands. A Lombardi’s/Grimaldis/Patsys, a Grays Papaya, The Palm, a CornerBistro/PJClarks, a Grand Szechuan, a Mexican Place, etc.
Ugh.
i think betemit just injured himself… AWESOME
Wilson, you’re kind of in there for defense.
Dude. Throw strikes, mmmkay?
Like that. Thank you.
That Bud Light Lime commercial really hurts my ears.
if youre a fan of greys anatomy YOU"LL LOVE JAKE PEAVY
Ugh, Grey’s Anatomy.
::shoots self::
Guess I hate Jake Peavy then.
If a player ever says that Saved By The Bell is his favorite program, he will immediately become my favorite player.
I think we can all agree that while Jake Peavy may or may not be McFilthy, Michael Kay is definitely McStupid.
Jesus.
green wasnt even close to being on 2nd for the force
Yeah, what’s the ruling on that? How close do you have to be? He was a few feet off the bag.
Nice game to watch, eh, Alex?
Coo coo, kachoo, Jason.
im going to repeat something i said last year that nobody agreed with…..... Wilson Betemit belongs in AAAA.
betemit belongs in the ml , just on somebody elses team
Should have been a walk.
They certainly ate up a lot of pitches that inning.
28.
A lot of pitches and just one run to show for it - suboptimal.
The Ras onlyy needs 1.
Better than no runs and a handful of pitches, which is what I expected.
ive been away for a while my new apt doesnt have internet but do u guys do much liveblogging anymore?
True.
You know what I’m gonna call? I’m gonna call Joba dominating this team tomorrow. 7 ip, 5 baserunners, 10 K.
I love you Razz.
I must say, Rasner’s pitch selection has been great.
4 K’s in 2 IP? nice.

Well, duh. We already know he can dominate AA batters.
do u guys do much liveblogging anymore?
I don’t think anyone is going to jump in there and do it with the run the Yankees have been on, fueled by SG’s “whatever.”
Maybe if they lose it will start back up. Not sure where Keith has been.
Jeter looks stoned in the dugout.
What the hell, Carlos Zambrano?!?!
5 runs to the Rays?!?
Please let this be the start of something for Cano.
attaboy he killed that
Wooo, Robbie!
Is he finally, FNALLY getting hot?
Remember when an opposite field double for Cano was not necessarily cause to celebrate?
It’s a good sign when Cano hit the ball with authority the opposite way. A very good sign.
side note- im pretty pumped about the chris smith signing today
Is Cano awake?
Betemit can hit AAAA pitching.
Oh, and Jake Peavy.
Haha, Betemit was pissed when he hit that….
Cano hit a double last night pretty much in the same spot, didn’t he?
Betemit to haters: bite me.
Sweet. I’ll take it, Beta-meet.
Well, it evens out. That was killed it looked like.
melky hit a hard liner yesterday that was right at someone bummer
47 pitches for Peavy on the 1-1 to Damon.
Okay, Damon actually IS pretty demonic right now.
Johnny!
Sweet. I’ll take it Johnny-Popup.
I am enjoying this game, thus far.
Ugly game for the Friars so far.
Right handed pitchers should tremble at the sight of this lineup when it’s healthy.
So, what’s the word on Maddux. Would he be available? Would that be something to look in to? SD is going nowhere fast.
Peavy has already thrown half a game’s worth of pitches.
Maddux is openly anti-NY and I doubt he’d do well in the AL at this point anyway.
Maddux has a no-trade I think. And he has stated he would never play in NY.
So a week back I was at a Yankees game and was sitting right behind Brian Ross. One of those guys you know from his face but not sure exactly who he is.
The big give-away was that classic news reporter hair that dates back to 1973.
As a native, Maddux can go to hell.
He might be the greatest pitcher since Walter Johnson, but he ca still go to hell.
One ought not walk Kahlil Greene.
Ummm
Who the hell is Luke Carlin?
Khalil Greene looks like Sean Penn in Fast Times at Ridgemont High.
Seems like the Raz is getting a wide strike zone, judging by my little Gamecast deal.
My Gamecast has Rasner getting strike calls on pitches in the batters box, I’m assuming its wrong.
