So happy to be at Fenway to witness a Rays team completely mail it in.
Isn’t that the 7th level of hell in Dante’s Inferno?

Er, I meant at Fenway for two.  Definitely hell.

Zero Percent-that’s a little harsh-more like two/three percent.

Baltimore rolls over and plays dead for Boston, not so much for us or Texas, gotta hate the Os.

Now 3.14159% to win after Arod hit

Still regretting we didn’t send the C team out against the Rangers last time.

CC in a bit of a jam.

What’s our lead in the wild card?

Mailing it in more the Rays or us?

It could have been worse.

or better, bottom of the 1st

sure looked like Jeter could have scored on that dribbler by Tex

Fucking shameful and embarassing-let’s just forfeit the rest of the games and see if we can get the WC

why isn’t that an error? would it be so hard and take so much creativity to charge the OF with an error?

why is Swisher bunting?

Absolutely should be an error, as was that IDIOTIC bunt attempt.  Whose idea was that?

We can’t win if we don’t play more small ball.

I love Da Bunt

Two hits today, hitting 330, and spotting the pitcher an 0-2 count, Kay’s right and Leiter may know pitching but dat’s bout it

TB is completely bending over.  Maddon sucks.

Tex really has trouble hitting the change-are we going to throw away another chance with RISP<2 outs?

where’s the replay of that “strike”

Dear YES can we see the overhead?

It was a ball but it wasn’t the worst call ever

This is the greatest crisis in Yankees history. They refuse to clinch. The sky is falling. I’m hungry.

I really hope Papelbon falls down an open manhole.

Hey now! Ruth, Gehrig, DiMaggio, Berra, Mantle, Munson, Mattingly, they would all be bunting in that spot, just like Jeter.

Wouldn’t they??? Whatever.

[25] ‘Cause the Yankees have?

Oh Teix…....

Tex has had trouble with the change all year

Jonathan, it could be worse, you could be in Arlington.

Matsui!

bout time

CC can really hang tough with less then his best, AJ not so much, Joba ??.

So what were the ejections like?  Was the anger warranted?  More umpiring incompetency?

Matsui, again!

I’m actually very relieved. The last thing I want to see is the Yankees have an extended funk and allow the Red Sox a glimmer of hope. The last thing we need is for those game at the end of September to possibly mean something.

Also it sucks that CC gets hit with an earned run for Damon’s idiocy.

McNabb is out but no Vick?!?

Game getting Bruney-proofed.

I read something about ejections?

Vick isn’t active.

[39] Alex and Girardi were ejected.

From RAB comments, poor strike three call (gameday has it definitely outside but not the-ump-is-blind outside) to A-Rod on a 2-2 count with the bases loaded, Girardi and A-Rod still steamed the next half-inning so tossed.  Sounds a bit silly to me.

I bet NY could have won this game if those ejections hadn’t taken place.

It wouldn’t be a Bruney appearnace without walks.

* appearance

Apparently the same umpire who [ignoring the he-said etc.] called Jeter out on the throw beating him to third a few months ago.

Yay win.

The sky has stopped falling, but I’m still hungry.

Poor Bruney.

Edwar for LOOGY?

What a waste on that first drive. Why would you call a toss on third and inches?

How nice of Tampa Bay to regain their pre-2008 form.  Back to the cellar for you.

Way back in the 20th century, Bill James wrote the first essential book about baseball managers. Chris Jaffe has just written the second.

From now on, whenever I have a question about a manager, Jaffe's book will be the first and last one I reach for.

John Brattain Memorial Fund

The Hardball Times has set up a memorial fund for John Brattain's family. He left behind a wife and two teenage daughters.

Four years ago, I found from personal experience how generous the online community can be to its own in their hour of need. I am now literally begging you to be even more generous than you were to me.
