so the angels will be undermanned for the redsox, and then re-loaded when the yankees have to play them so many times.  wonderful.

Well they basically turned Saltalamacchia into a year of Teix and then Kotchman and a B prospect.

Considering their current catcher is young, cheap, and OPSing about .950, I’m not sure they’re missing Salty too much.

They were going to get rid of him. Who would have been better than a full year of Tex?

Plus, Kotchman is a first rate defensive first baseman with an OPS+ above league average who is still pretty cheap.

His first inning really wasn’t bad either.  Two out broken bat blooper, grounder up the middle for a hit, and another ground-liner for the run.  The offense just needs to score some freaking runs.

Actually, I think Rasner was decent today. Some softly hit balls found holes in the first inning, and his one mistake was to Millar. That accounts for two runs.

This is on offense, and Jason Giambi, who has stranded five runners. Of course, it does not help to have three automatic outs at the bottom of the order either.

This is definitely on the offense.  Rasner’s gone 5, keeping the team in the game.  That’s all you can ask for from a 4/5 pitcher.  Runs would be great.
