I’d probably rather be in iowa city than Boston

"Heineken is horse piss.”

You can’t make an inflammatory comment such as that and not say what you prefer.

"I’d probably rather be in iowa city than Boston “

Ironically, I might relocate to Boston for the summer.  Any advice?

to Heineken? I’d prefer Budweiser, if you put a gun to my head.

Honestly, I’m not questioning your taste or anything. I’m not beer snob. I just don’t like Heineken. It always tastes like someone left an Amstel Light out in the sun for a week then chilled it.

Oh, the irony of a man who likes Bud calling Heineken horse piss!

"ronically, I might relocate to Boston for the summer.  Any advice?”

I have lots of advice. What kind are you lookig for? Where to live? Where to eat? Where to drink?

I like the taste of a good domestic American lager. Especially when they’re $1 at the Avenue in Allston. The place around the corner from me has $2 Michelob 22 oz. drafts. That’s the only cheap drinking in downtown Boston.

Certainly fair enough - most of my friends don’t like it either, and usually for worse reasons.

"I have lots of advice. What kind are you lookig for? Where to live? Where to eat? Where to drink?”

All of the above would be the first three things I’d ask.

1. If you’re a student and you want drunken debauchery, live in Allston, as close as possible to the intersection of Harvard Ave. and Commonwealth Ave. If you want something a bit quieter but still cool and close to the action, Coolidge Corner in Brookline is a great little neighborhood, with good restaurants and some nice towny pubs (but no real “scene").

2.Speed’s Hot Dog Wagon in Roxbury is hard to get to but worth the trip.

3.The Avenue in Allston has $1 drafts all day, every day. Our House has $2 Brubaker’s and attractive girls. The Model has cute hipster chicks. In Cambridge, my favorite bar is The People’s Republic.

Anybody have any knowledge of Indianapolis?  I’m going to be there over the summer for an internship, I’m a little worried about it.  I’m disappointed the yanks aren’t playing either the white sox or tribe in that time.

Excellent advice, WJ - thank you very much.

And with that, I depart.

Chicago, Milwaukee, Kansas City?  I could help you.

Indy?  Never been, sorry.

Well, how about Chicago then?  My girlfriend and I are going to be taking a weekend trip there at the end of the summer.  Anything we should definitely do/see?

Wiener Circle!

If I was in Chicago I’d have a meal at Arun’s, if I knew I could spend the next day recovering.  I’d also drive up and down LSD at night.  And I’d walk around downtown and look at the buildings - maybe take an architectural tour.  And the Art Institute is great.

If I was in Indianapolis I think I’d get a netflix subscription and the collected Horatio Hornblower books.  And learn the piano.

Already got that netflix subscription, and I live in the SF bay area. I’m pretty lame.

I’m near Stanford…

There’s tons to do in Chicago, get The Reader anywhere there if it still exists.

Note that tomorrow’s bay area weather would be considered clement in summer in the Midwest away from the lake, so pack accordingly.

Figures, I’m not here for one game and a couple of the old school Primer chatterers show up.

Mussina is a God and he’s pitching himself into the HOF.

It’s nice to see a .500 record drives you all to alcohol.
I hate to see what would happen if the Yankees were having an AWFUL season.

Okay, this is super dorky, but what can I say, I found it interesting - so check this out, as I doubt you’ll see this happen very often.

Cliff Floyd, in tonight’s game, made an out at EACH of the three bases!

He was thrown out at third by Melky.

He was picked off at second by Jeter.

He was thrown out at first to end the game by Cano.

Come on! That’s interesting!!!

I meant Jeter, not Cano, for the last one.

I can’t stand booze snobs. Let people asphyxiate themselves however they like.

I hate to see what would happen if the Yankees were having an AWFUL season.

Hasn’t that been every season this decade so far?
