Anyone else noticing the pattern?

Well, that could have gone a lot better…

I’ll take 2 runs though in the first.

A Yankee rally wouldn’t be complete without an inning ending double play.

I notice many patterns.  I generally see them when they don’t exist.  Some call this paranoia; others would say I’m just paying attention.

Fabian, I assume you mean being up 2-0?

if abreu is going to go on contact, he can’t be scared of sliding into the catcher.

if abreu is going to go on contact, he can’t be scared of sliding into the catcher.

Dude, he’s afraid of the wall.  You want him slam into an armor-wearing man??

Either being up 2-0, or Sexson playing 1B against a lefty.  When was the last time Giambi had a day off? Tuesday?  Eh.

Ah, come on.  One pitch groundout?

Sure looks like House Money Lineup.

That was a pretty funny discussion, I thought.

flat out flat out flat out flat out flat out flat out flat out flat out flat out flat out flat out flat out

I meant the whole lose the first 2 games of a series thing.

Mr. Frogman is losin’ it.

Isaac Hayes is dead?  Bummer.

You did notice that Singletone said Guerrero could “flat out hit” 3 times in a row, didn’t you Bubba?  And then Key (unironically) said “Guerrero flat out said he wants to be an Angel next year.”

I see patterns.

You’d be lsoing it to, if you knew what I know.

DaPuj, where’d you get that?

Frogster, I’m not watching the broadcast, thus saving myself valuable brain cells.

Pettitte/Molino prowess.

CNN just broke the news on Hayes.

What’s with everyboy dying all of a sudden?

everyBODY, damnit

I’m dying a litle during this inning.

freudian slip!

anyway, i saw the espn headline “heavy-hitting angels” ...

it just seems so weird, after their years of dominant pitching.

Mr. Frogman is losin’ it.

haven’t we all kind of lost it?

Screw this inning:

The Yankees are worse than AIDS

In Andy’s defense, this inning started with a bullshit call.

The angels feed wasn’t showing the replay very well, I was thinking it was pretty close to an out on the chopper.

One of the answers must be Gary Carter.

Maybe the other is Eddie Murray.

Awesome baserunning too. he is good at baseball.

Cano did his best.

I am right about both.

This is because I see patterns.

The angels feed let us know the Nady is the first player with a first name starting with ‘X’ to homer in the majors.  I’m glad I know that.

Tree, you mean, he did his best to hurt the Yankees’ chances?

well, more to fill the WOE quotient.

The bottom of the Yankees lineup is just scary bad.

That’s Nady in left guys, not Damon.

I was talking to the angels, not anyone here, sorry if that didn’t make any sense.

There was a rumor that Andy was hurt a couple days ago.  The way he’s going at 61 pitches and not sharp makes you wonder.

Of A-Rod’s 61 HR against the Angels, how many were off Colón?

this ump is not giving pettitte perfect pitches on the outside corner.

that was a surprising play by jeter

Cano has two AB’s and has wrecked two rallies. Nice!

I’m not sure you can call a groundout FC with one on and the 7-8-9 coming up “wrecking” a rally, but yeah, Cano hasn’t hit the ball well today.

Wasn’t it first-and-third in his second AB when he grounded out? *Driving* in the third run.

Yankee baseball makes baby Jebus cry.

You’re right, I’m wrong.  Sorry.

Richie Sexson was born to WOE.

It sure makes me cry.

don’t order the skip’s scramble

RISP. RIP.

At least one run here would be fantastic.

Decidedly un-fantastic.

Jeter?  That guy’s got an edge.

Wait . . .  What?

Can’t we just accidentally win a game?

They *accidentally* won last Sunday.

I meant today.

You wanna accidentally win, again? Against the Angels? No soup for you!

that was fucking high

hahahahahaha

RISP.

RIP.

Hmm, that’s about as close as it gets.

we got robbed twice in the inning. Abreu should have walked and Arod was clearly safe at third.

With Nady up, was that really worth it? WOE and all.

He was safe as fuck.

*Clearly*? No way, it was that close.

Frustrating.

And Cano has the wors luck of the world.

Uh, sticking with Pettitte here?

Oh my fucking god.  I can’t believe that the angels guys are bringing up Joba right now as someone who could have been coming in right now. This is moments after talking about how you need a starting pitcher to “be a horse”.  Why do people get paid to say these things?

Giambi,Christian, Molina in the top of the 9th?

Giambi, Betemit and Pudge, I think.

Does it matter with WOE who is up?

Whatever.

My thoughts exactly.

I really want to know why Giambi wasn’t in there.

betemit wanted to strike out first

Pretty sure F-Rod thought the game was over right there.  Tool.

K-Rod.  Whateverthefuck.  Next year he’ll be overpaid-rod.

Just a matter of time.

Girardi is saving Mariano for the playoffs.

Girardi really lost his mind in this roadtrip.

Girardi is using Marte as a longman lately.

And now he gives the ball to the Rivera.

Mo in a tie game and runners are already on. This one is done, folks.

chief noggins

the only thing that could make this game/series more depressing would be to see mo lose it, even if it’s through little fault of his own.

like a band-aid

You must be fucking joking.

I give up.

Some things in life are inevitable. I hate those things.

Now it’s the twins time to sweep the Yankees.

That’s on Betemit.

Thankfully, mercifully, no extra innings.

Three more coming up soon with the Angels in Anaheim! Oh goody.

After watching the replay, I have changed my mind: That’s on Betemit. That’s on Betemit. That’s on Betemit. That’s on Betemit. That’s on Betemit. That’s on Betemit. That’s on Betemit. That’s on Betemit. That’s on Betemit. That’s on Betemit.

(Printer, repeat to bottom of page.)

God, I hate the fucking Angels

Well, we now know the Angels dominion over the Yankees principalities was not Joe Torre’s fault, as some have suggested.

If the Angels don’t give away last Sunday’s game, they’d be 1-6 against them.

Way back in the 20th century, Bill James wrote the first essential book about baseball managers. Chris Jaffe has just written the second.

From now on, whenever I have a question about a manager, Jaffe's book will be the first and last one I reach for.

John Brattain Memorial Fund

The Hardball Times has set up a memorial fund for John Brattain's family. He left behind a wife and two teenage daughters.

Four years ago, I found from personal experience how generous the online community can be to its own in their hour of need. I am now literally begging you to be even more generous than you were to me.
