0-0 in the bottom of the first.

You couldn’t resist, could ya.
Nice work on the title.
I guess this is somwhat of a victory. Too bad WOE lives.
I don’t hate cricket. i love cricket. andrew symonds is my idol. the dribbly bloop anderson got off the end of his bat reminded me of kevin pieterson feebly smacking a wicked googly from shane warne. except shane warne is awesome and ian kennedy sucks right now. i dunno. i was pissed off
bite me
Nice work on the title.
SG coined it last year, I believe.
So you breeze throuh the first seven, and then give up a hit to Rivera (fine) and plunk the #9?
Well the popup for Jerkface Figgins is good.
Nice title.
Why is Rivera on 3rd after the pop up?
Way to stay awake, Yanks. Sweet Jesus, they just left third open after the popup and Rivera took it. Luckily it mattered not. But still, try to act like you want to win at least.
Let’s go offense!
You mean he just tagged up and went? On a POPUP???
Time for another team meeting.
You mean he just tagged up and went? On a POPUP???
He waited until the Yankees were nice and complacent (as usual) and when no one was near third he took off, like 10 seconds after the catch. Terrible.
Wow, the strike three to Jeter was a bit of a gift. Hope Giese gets that call.
Thx, Jonathan. Sounds like I’m not missing much by not watching.
Fabulous AB for Derek.
Is anyone else disturbed by the fact that A-Rod went 0-14 in 4 games IN TEXAS? A hitter’s haven, the Coors field of the AL?

Ehhh, shit slumps happen. Considering how this season has gone, this barely registers a 1.5 on the Disturbing scale.

No, slumps happen.
I really wish announcers would stop saying that about Nady because it overlooks the fact that was just a negotiating ploy.
What are they saying?
No, slumps happen.
Agreed, but of all places to break out of his already slump prior to the series, you would think he’d get it together there, a place he’s familiar with.
Wow, Abreu needs to DH. That was probably playable for anybody else.
Hunter needs to stop flipping the bat, particularly on fly outs.
Tim McCarver, innings count. Innings count, Tim McCarver.
What are they saying?
Xavier Nady is just the 20th (or whatever) player to go straight to the majors without playing in the minors. Without considering that he spent the next couple years in the minors and that the move was more a part of the player signing process than a sign that Nady was so awesome at such a young age.
Three pitch strikeout for Derek.
Eff you, Kaptain Klutch.
Wow, Jeter is seriously playing golf in his head. The strikeout followed by an atrocious throw to first on the ground out. He basically side armed it from a standing position.
Wow, Jeter is seriously playing golf in his head.
Nah, I doubt it. He’s simply trying to decide which slutty blonde Hollywood bimbo he’s going to call tonight
If I were a man, I’d have a man crush on Giese.
The ball went into orbit.
Alex does hit well against the Angels historically. I thought that was just because he owns Colon, but I guess it’s the franchise.
Yay Giambi too!
Whoa.
OK, now Giese and Girardi have to not fuck this up.

There’s a simpler explanation: He spent a bunch of years in the AL West (and therefore played lots of games against that division). The only 2 teams in that division he didn’t play for were the Angels and the As. He happened to hit more HRs against the Angels. I was amused at how many times the announcers kept mentioning that he has more HRs against the Angels than any other team.
!@#!
McCarver: “A blast from the present.”
Please shut the f up.
Giese owns Vlad.
Brennaman: “How does Mussina get the player of the month over Sabathia.” “Must be a lot of Yankee players voting.”
Here’s why, Tom: Mussina doesn’t pitch against AAAA teams.
Quiet around here today.
Bunt.
Boy do we not do good in those situations
Its really not sporting and no fun at all for Yankee fans to break the game open
Its really not sporting and no fun at all for Yankee fans to break the game open
Apparently A-Rod thinks so.
I hate Jeter. Seriously.
*fumes*
Whew I was so afraid Bobby or Arod would surprise me with runners on 2nd and 3rd and 1 out and score a run(s). I wonder what percent we score with 2 on and less then 2 out with our 3 and 4 hitters up.
Man, this bullpen certainly hasn’t performed like it used to.
Probably would have been nice to get more than just one run out of 1st and 3rd and no outs last inning.
Starring as Kyle Farnsworth, please welcome Jose Veras.
Thanks Veras. You suck.
I hate the Angels so much.
I hope Giese sucker punches Veras when he enters the dugout.
Napoli? NAPOLI? Sigh.
Die choking, Figgins.
Great strategy! Walk Maicer to get to the easy out.
Here comes a Teixeira double.
Did anyone really think we would win this game? Veras has been pretty good this year and it was simply his turn to suck or we might have won. But the dumb bunt and Abreu and Arod’s ineptitude in these situation are to blame also.
Yesterday it as Kennedy’s turn. Our sucking is a community effort. But Arod never even seems to hit the ball hard in those situations.
Why did giradi pull Giese???? I don’t get when a pitcher is throwing a gem and gets pullled for a pitcher not named Mariano Rivera.
This loss is on Girardi.
Fuck this team. Fuck Girardi too. I’m fucking pissed at him.
Girardi is an engineer, maybe someone can deliver him a printout on all the situations where a bunt does or doesn’t give you an edge
this is getting absurd
:( Edwar
I wish I could say I was surprised but I would have much preferred losing this game in a straighforward way, Geise get shelled and Lackey pitches a shutout. However when Joba went down and then IPK sucked my last miniscule hope for the postseason disappeared.
Angels own Edwar and the rest of the team. I’ve been expecting a sweep for a while.
Ok, olympic boxing it is. See ya.
I can’t watch this team anymore.
Wow, one pitch from Edwar and the Angels take the lead. Never saw that one coming….
The Yankees aren’t very good at baseball. Or maybe they’re just bored with it. Perhaps they should take up darts.
I feel like the character in “Of Mice and Men” and wish someone would remind me what it was like when the Yankees knew how to win.
Can’t remember a day when I was more pissed than right now. I just wanna die…..
Never thought we had a chance to win this one and Girardi blew it.
There were plenty of games when I was more pissed when I used to have hope. Hope was extinguished by Baltimore, Texas and Joba’s injury.
The only thing left to root for is the unlikely chance that Boston doesn’t make the playoffs either.
Gary Matthews, Bartolo Colon, Garrett Anderson, Torii Hunter in a couple years say hello.
Wow I just turned the game back on. Wasn’t it 4-3 a few minutes ago?
I guess I’m slow today but 71 please splain
The only one I’m really angry at is Arod who since he came off the DL has come up so small time after time when we needed him the most. Was last year a complete fluke when he was the king of clutch? Did hef ire his life coach or something? Is Madonna’s pussy Arod’s Kryptonite?
72,
Paraphrasing: “What makes the Angels so special is that they have a payroll of 120-125 million and they never make mistakes spending their money”
Oh I missed the sparkling McCarver and Co’s sparkling repartee.
What the hell? I left when it was 2-0 to head somewhere for half an hour, I come back thinking “man we need to win this game”, and its 4-11? Off Veras and Ramirez?
Someone try to help me fathom what happened. And, what are the rules with profanity on this weblog?
Guess the bullpen was our Maginot Line. Here come the Jerries.
Bop- You are effin killin me.
Warsaw 1939.
Mommy whats a Panzer?
Egads we suck.
JC- Be creative.
I’m glad I wasn’t around to watch this travesty. I left after the back-to-back HR’s.
Edwar had a great stretch, but I have had my doubts about him. Maybe it is just that the Angels own him. Maybe the manager needs to wake up and realize that.
Creative is how this team finds ways to lose.
WOE.
Hey Don. Wanna go shooting Sunday?
I’ve a bit of 7.62 mm due to expire soon.
Cinderblocks go boom. Fun stuff when baseball sucks and you need a laugh or three.
I may fashion a Figgins target or two. I have a Kevin Brown target also.
It breaks its own hand and pees itself on command.
OTF, can I come too?
I can bring the flourless chocolate cake I just finished baking.
Target practice followed by homemade cake! What more could a Yankees fan want. Well…...... some good ale, good food, and some booze.
Thurm, if I was closer (cab ride away), I’d take you up on the offer.
Look at it this way, only four more games to go against the Angels.
Baseball might finally be wisening up. Thank goodness. Welcome to modern times.
Chocolate cake and an M-14. That is a Sunday brunch!
I settled for a bagel and two inch groups at 200 yards. What a fine day.
I’ll be sure not to ruin it by watching the game.
Johnny Damon leads the league in batting average…
The smallest of small consolations.
