Molino’s back! Ransom at SS! Joba the bust on the mound! House money game in the series opener!
On a more serious note, domestic violence is a big problem. A win by the Yankees would be a big step for spouses everywhere. Ergo, the importance of this game cannot be overstated. Go Yankees.
Comments
I’m glad Molino’s getting a start here. I hope he throws out an Angel. And I hope Jorge hits a pinch hit double to drive in the go-ahead run in teh 9th.
On the other hand, Cody Ransom at SS makes me want to stick my head in the Farnsworth oven.
How bout those Mets huh? What an awful trade. Stupid 10:00 game.
And shouldn’t that be “Miss Los Angeles Angel”?
Two games in a row with Ransom starting? Now this is going too far. It’s like Girardi feels as though Ransom is some star that needs playing time or something.
How bout those Mets huh? What an awful trade. Stupid 10:00 game.
On the surface, it’s really mind-boggling. Francouer is just about clueless at the plate.
And shouldn’t that be ”Miss Los Angeles Angel”?
You know, I batted that around in my head for a bit and settled on Mrs., but I’m willing to change it if the consensus prefers Miss. Still think we have to use the plural of Angels in either case, since the Los Angeles Angels is a singular representation of the team.
I agree about the plural, but the “Miss” would sure indicate that the Yankees should just tip their hats and call the Angels their daddy.
Oh, and I’d like to add to my wish list: Melky throwing Chone Figgins out at 3b on a single.
Omar Minaya is the one who’s just about clueless. I feel sorry for Mets fans.
“Miss Los Angeles Angel”
I think the whole approach is best dropped. $0.02.
That deal is fucking brutal. The Mets are painfully run.
Just got an email from a friend of mine forwarding a convo of his on “what it’s like being a Mets fan right now.”
> Oh crap, the Mets just traded Ryan Church for Jeff Francoeur? Money quote:
> > “This had nothing to do with not liking Ryan Church, but, one thing we
> like about Francoeur is the amount of games he plays,” Minaya explained,
> pointing out that he’s played over 152 games each of the last three
> seasons.
> > So the primary reason for the trade is picking up a live body?are you kidding me?? they left out minaya’s other quote: “we wanted to
trade church straight up for someone who plays the same position, but is
worse. in fact, we wanted someone worse than a random call up from the
minor leagues, so we went out and got jeff francoeur.”
House money game in the series opener!
Girardi is trying to trick the Angels into thinking that they already won the series.
also, 10 o’clock? the west coast needs to get with the program. Everyone I know in California goes to bed at nine.
What do the Mets have that we can steal from them, given that it’s open season?
“we can steal”
Make that “we want to steal”.
Well, Francoeur IS five years younger than Church, and their lines this season are nearly identical. It looks like he has regressed each season since his solid rookie year. Maybe the Mets feel he has potential?
Molina and Ransom…ugh…
[12] Beltran for Melky?
Anyways, Swisher needs to make sure to hit a HR every AB to clear the bases, because the bottom 4 of that lineup won’t be driving anyone in. Does Girardi owe Joe Saunders money or something?
[14] The Mets (read Manuel) so devalued Church that they had few options, I guess.
Lester pitching a great game in KC, but he’s being matched by Banister.
The trade looks a lot better if you think of it as Milledge for Francoeur. At least now.
Damn midget.
But the thing is that Church may have some actual trade value (for that matter Ramon Castro too), and Minaya basically burned those two bullets for nada.
Stupid wall.
Stupid wall.
I hate that thing.
Haha, Don Orsillo jumping the gun on the “Red Sox win!”. Jerk.
On the surface, it’s really mind-boggling. Francouer is just about clueless at the plate.
JC Bradbury at Sabernomics must have had a heart attack.
Molina at C and Ransom at SS. I can’t think of a more blatant sign of house money than that. Does Girardi read this site?
Glad I benched Sizemore tonight. Yeesh.
also, 10 o’clock? the west coast needs to get with the program. Everyone I know in California goes to bed at nine.
Heh, apparently you guys can’t tell time. My clock says 7.
What’s stupid is that Yankee games normally start at 4. Very inconvenient.
Can I has a good feeling about this game, or is that not allowed with the starting lineup as is?
Also, are there no more right handed starters left in the AL?
Suzyn says Saunders has struggled mightily since June 1st, well Melky/Ransom/Molina should cure what ails him.
Yay, Cap’n.
[28] I actually have a good feeling about this game, but its just so much fun to point out the automatic 3 outs at the bottom of the order.

Cano’s away game prowess will shine tonight and Melky will go yard. The other two will be what we expect them to be.
Doesn’t Melky only go yard at NYS? (7 of his 8 HR this season)
Doesn’t Melky only go yard at NYS? (7 of his 8 HR this season)
Just you watch.
I’m having a tough time hearing Kenny. They need to boost his mic.
Pff, 1st inning RBIs are so weak. And that slide wasn’t necessary, Alex. Stop sliding to show yer mommy you played.
Suzyn thinks Joba pitches better with the lead. I think Suzyn has already forgotten about Joba’s last start when he gave up 8 runs after being handed a 4-0 lead.
Francouer is the worst player in baseball.
[36] Worse than Ransom?
Joba Joba Hey
Worst regular starter.
Saunders threw 22 pitches in that inning. Not bad considering all the scoring.
Nice start! Siddown Chone
I’d say Franceour is worse than Ransom.
Joba bringing heat to start the game!
Joba at 97 on the last pitch of that at bat…
Just sayin’
Gameday had strike 3 at 97.
Clay’s post got in first Alphabetically.
Methinks Phil had a chat with Joba prior to this game.
This is such a tease.
8 pitches, 1 inning? Is Mo starting the game?
Clay’s post got in first Alphabetically.
I’d like to thank the academy. My production team. Oh, and of course, my parents.
Sterling said Abreu is having “a great year”. I guess an .844 OPS and some of the worst OF defense in baseball is great.
If TB wins tonight and Texas loses, the AL east will have the three best records on the AL.
Cervello who?
haha. Molino
Nice one, Jose. Now take second.
Just kidding.
My wife loves the name “Figgins” and proceeds to say it cheerily every time she hears it said on TV. I have told her that it grates me, yet she continues to do it.
The Yankee batters respecting the battling memo.
Yay Cap’n.
Monster AB there by Jeter.
My wife loves the name “Figgins” and proceeds to say it cheerily every time she hears it said on TV. I have told her that it grates me, yet she continues to do it.
You crazy kids.
[51] And that is not the least bit surprising. Seriously, they should change the rules and allow the 4 best records into the playoffs. Why does the AL Central deserve a playoff team?
Yay, Johnny.
Molino rounds third and scores?
Molino scored from 2nd on a single? Was Matthews playing in the CF bleachers or taking a nap on the warning track?
Wait you can score without home runs or bunts? This is crazy!
Sterling said Abreu is having “a great year”. I guess an .844 OPS and some of the worst OF defense in baseball is great.
but he has 50-something RBIs! his defense is considerably less terrible than it was last year though.
Ugh, generous strike from Bucknor on that second pitch to Teix.
I wasn’t even sure that Molino could score from 3rd on a single. To score from 2nd is a coup.
This can’t be happening.
Runs! And more runs.
Nice first inning by Joba. Aggressive is the way to go.
his defense is considerably less terrible than it was last year though.
I take it the Angels play in a park that doesn’t feature OF fences?
Molino scored from 2nd on a single? Was Matthews playing in the CF bleachers or taking a nap on the warning track?
Ha. That’s a funny mental image.
Molino was chugging home. I thought he might need some oxygen on the bench.
“his defense is considerably less terrible than it was last year though.”
I’m still skeptical that his defense last year was as bad as claimed.
Molino scored from 2nd on a single? Was Matthews playing in the CF bleachers or taking a nap on the warning track?
Sunbathing on the rocks.
I take it the Angels play in a park that doesn’t feature OF fences?
Actually, they’re comprised of Charmin.
That’s funny. MY wife loves to say “Chone.” I’m not kidding. He’s one of two non Yankees or Red Sox that she knows in baseball.
Sunbathing on the rocks.
I assume shirtless with ARod, yes?
Yanks attempting to get to the bullpen early in the series, just like in Minnesota. And the Angels don’t have R.A. Dickey.
Yankee with 4-0 lead, right where the Angels want them to be?
Molino must feel the pressure of actually having a dangerous 3rd string catcher compared to Cash.
Let’s see if Joba does better with this 4-0 lead.
My bitter half thought it remarkable that the Angels also have a player named Abreau. And she loves saying “Dikembe Mutumbo”.
I’m still skeptical that his defense last year was as bad as claimed.
why? do you think that he just had a really bad distribution of chances?
“Juan Rivera is having a GREAT year!”
-John Sterling
.884 OPS, getting closer John, getting closer
Nice non-dive my Melky.
The YES gun has jet lag, apparently.
Well there goes the perfecto.
And she loves saying “Dikembe Mutumbo”.
Who doesn’t?
Juan Rivera is having a pretty nice year.
Molino fail.
Posado’s fault or Joba?
“why? do you think that he just had a really bad distribution of chances?”
The number wasn’t in line with his career results. There was no indication he was hurt. He would have suddenly been the worst defender in baseball. I looked at the stats a bit at one point and thought there was wiggle room.
I mean Molino.
No reason to give into this guy with 1B open and the Angels featuring a Yankees house money-like awful bottom third of the batting order.
Wait, Coke can only be used against one batter tonight because he has pitched a lot recently? He only faced 5 batters the past two days.
joba bouncing all his sliders.
Wait, Coke can only be used against one batter tonight because he has pitched a lot recently? He only faced 5 batters the past two days.
Yeah, but look at who he faced. That’s exhausting!
Now this is the battle mode I expect from all Yankees starting pitchers.
Radio voices saying Joba working quicker, true?
And I like it when pitchers work quicker, usually I equate it with effectiveness, not sure if it’s accurate though.
GIDP here, please.
Jesus fucking christ Joba, I hate you.
