All of the regular’s lines are starting to look better.  This team really needs ARod and Posada back.

Go Yanks!  I miss ARod.

Does anyone think that 10 singles is probably a good guess at how many hits and of what type have been taken away from Giambi by the shift? If that’s true and those fall for singles, his line would be .284/.436/.688 for an OPS of 1.124, which would be 1st in the AL.

Does anyone think that 10 singles is probably a good guess at how many hits and of what type have been taken away from Giambi by the shift?

That’s close.  He’s got a BABIP of .153 and a line drive % of .193.  Add .080 to his line drive % to get his adjusted BABIP which accounts for the shift and his foot speed and you get an expected BABIP of .273.  .273-.153 times his 29 line drives and 48 ground balls = 9 missing singles.

we’re gonna win this game MAD NICE

How do you guys like the Yankee theme song on the ESPN broadcast?  Pretty great.

anybody see iron man? so awesome

Perez has no chance against the patient Yanks.

what joe morgan and jon miller don’t seem to understand is that they ARE THE FUCKING MICROSCOPE. no one gives a shit.

I forgot how to say shit in Japanese.

it’s “unchi” OTF

F strikeouts, this is awesome

Wang is kicking ass and taking names.

...and our beloved offense is not.

iron man was good.

i saw narnia yesterday.  twas fun.

Damnit.

Church is a good defensive player, from what I hear.

are we getting robbed?  hard to tell from gameday.

Nice catch.  And Gonzalez did a nice job of takin that one the other way.

Narnia seem to be getting, at best, lukewarm raves.  I’m hoping most of the critics are just too stuck up to enjoy it, as I want to see that too.

Sterling says Church made a really nice catch.  I don’t know whether that meant we were robbed, but good defense is not really robbed.

Machine Wang.

The NYT review was actually pretty good.  I thought it was a lot of fun…I still haven’t seen the first one, so it’s hard for me to compare.

church made a great catch.

From the little I’ve watched on television, the Yankees offense have been hurt by the opponent’s decent outfield defense.  Small sample size, and I’m sure extreme biasness.

K!

Cano is putting on a clinic out there.

A turgid member of the rotation is our Wang.

Jesus… is it too early to start noticing what I’m noticing?

Seriously is there some sort of crazy curse on Yankee backup catchers?  It seems like they are always sub-par when they come here and then they immediately turn into sub-sub-replacement level.

BTW when the AG came to the plate, Howie Rose called him Adrien Gonzalez.  I still like Howie. Maybe even more now.  Thanks EElzz.

Morgan thinks missing Posada and A-Rod is hurting us.
At least he’s right!

Kev: Yes, you haven’t noticed yet.

Jesus… is it too early to start noticing what I’m noticing?

Notice away, just don’t mention it.

Unless you are referring to WOE.  In which case, ain’t it though?

OK. Just making sure.

Jesus… is it too early to start noticing what I’m noticing?

What, that our offense continues to look totally lost at the plate? No, not too early.

Wait, not what you meant? Hmm…

Seriously is there some sort of crazy curse on Yankee backup catchers?  It seems like they are always sub-par when they come here and then they immediately turn into sub-sub-replacement level.

Flaherty was solid for a backup for a couple of years in ‘03 and ‘04.

I noticed too kevray85.  Our offense continues to blow chunks.

I appreciate all the pessimistic responses about our abysmal offense.

Fuck. It’s all my fault.

By the way kevray, glad to have you on board here.

Also, don’t notice or not notice anything else.

I feel it is now my duty to jinx the hell out of Oli.

See what we done?

Well done Wang.  Nice job.

Bad play by Reyes.

Glad to be here.  Hell of a site you guys have goin.  Wasn’t sure about the policy on noticing.  Good to know from here on out.

I feel it is now my duty to jinx the hell out of Oli.

You mean the fact that he’s on pace to throw a 144 pitch no-no?

Fuckkkkk U Rayezzz

hahahaha. man that reyes is so electrifying ain’t he

Karma’s a bitch, Mr. Reyes… that’s what you get for breaking up a no-Wanger

Hey, Oliver Perez is throwing a no-hitter so far. A no-hitter. He has not given up any hits so far. None. So far, no hits.

Was that really Reyes’ fault?  Or just bad luck?  I know Reyes get piled on a lot, but it seems fairly difficult not to get picked off.

Wang > WOE, I hope.

Brian, has Perez given up any hits yet?

SG - would that be a record?  I bet not.

Remember when AJ Burnett threw a no-no with 7 BBs?

Brian, has Perez given up any hits yet?

No!

Astonishing, right?

He’s on pace to throw a no-hitter!

would that be a record?  I bet not.

Probably not.  Nolan Ryan probably did it a couple of times himself.

What the fuck, Wang?

I blame myself for this inning.  I should be kicked off.

Hey, do the Yankees have any hits yet?

So frustrating.

That’s… unreal.

That’s the game…

I don’t think the Yankees have a hit yet.

Wait. What happened there? Gameday says a fielder’s choice with no one out on the play, but I don’t see an error either…

Or rather, I do see an error, but don’t know how it factored in…

Fuck this, I’m going to watch the Indy special on SciFi.  Hope our luck turns in the meantime.

God that was the lamest hit against the Yankees since…yesterday.

Have the Yankees scored a whole bunch of runs yet?

By the way, Wang doesn’t have a no hitter anymore.

It was a tough play at second.  Couldn’t be assumed to call it an error.

What a horseshit rally.

Ground ball that Giambi had to dive away from first for. He threw from his knees (even though he had some time) and pulled Jeter slightly off the bag at second.

Good night.

Oh nevermind.

Sterling opened the inning by telling us that Wang doesn’t walk people or give up home runs.

Wow that was a HR.  Maybe the Yankees will get “lucky” this inning.

Foul ball, I hope.  I don’t mind a bad call now and then.

Wait. What happened there? Gameday says a fielder’s choice with no one out on the play, but I don’t see an error either…

Grounder to Giambi who dove and tried to make the force at second but his throw bounced and Jeter couldn’t catch it before his foot left the bag.

HAHA Gameday fucked up.

Yeesh… heart attack city.

hahaha, thank god.

Let’s hope the Yanks can take advantage of that bullshit call.

How about a DP Wang?

This is crazy.

Eh, Delgado should be ashamed to call that a HR anyway.  A cue shot the other way that grazes the foul pole?

wow… DP Wang… unbelievable.

yeah that was a lame home run. paul o’neill wouldn’t stand for that shit.

So, it was incorrectly ruled to be a foul ball?

Correct, John.

So, it was incorrectly ruled to be a foul ball?

Right.  It glanced off the foul pole right above the fence.

Hell, at this rate Delgado will score anyway and make it all a moot point…

You know how we can get bitchy and whiny talking about the Yanks?

That’s fair enough, but it’s hilarious when STERLING is doing it. smile

He’s getting all bitchy and whiny - “This would be a good time to bring in a lefty reliever, but the Yanks don’t have one.” “Three runs is a lot against the Yanks - they don’t score runs.”

kevray85:  this is all your fault and if I could find where you are, I would kick your ass into next Wednesday.

Tyrus Ray Delgado gets 2 hits in one AB. Nice. See yazz inna hour or so.

The Yankees are 4-21 when their opponents have scored 4 or more runs.

*blushing*

Oliver Perez has not allowed a hit.

It’s sad that a four-spot was a relatively good outcome of that inning.

Now on to Oliver Perez’s guaranteed no-hitter!!

Why do *those* innings seem to be happening *all the time* right now? Messed up.

Thanks again herr reyes. My favorite Met today.

John Brattain Memorial Fund

The Hardball Times has set up a memorial fund for John Brattain's family. He left behind a wife and two teenage daughters.

Four years ago, I found from personal experience how generous the online community can be to its own in their hour of need. I am now literally begging you to be even more generous than you were to me.
