Wow, bee delay in San Diego.

Weird how the Yankees never seem to play those hugely important games anymore.
Delayed: Rain ?
Expecting rain. No tarp on the field, however.
Am I the only one that thinks Aceves resembles Jim Leyritz just a little?
From the radar it looks like one small but fairly intense cell will roll through presently. Though nothing else is close to the west, it looks like lots of stuff is forming, so maybe more is on the way.
Am I the only one that thinks Aceves resembles Jim Leyritz just a little?
I saw Aceves on the Yankees Magazine teaser and thought to myself, “I don’t want to hear anything else about that drunk-driving, wife-beating jackass.”
Every Yankee starter has an OPS+ or ERA+ over 100 except for Wang.
Mariners broadcast saying 4:40 gametime.
Jack is at the game with his daughter, who I think had a role in the movie Click.
Jack B. Nimble?
sub-optimal. Strike outs are nice though.
Good start for the offense.
Cy Vargas.
Too early?
Cy Vargas.
Too early?
Possibly. For some reason he hasn’t been terrible this season. 112 ERA+, 4.68 FIP.
Err…at least no one was on base.
His location sucks balls right now.
He pitched pretty well when I saw him in Seattle.
Looks like he may have figured out whatever was mechanically wrong, so if he can hold things at 3 for a few innings the Yankees can probably get right back into this.
Nice start, there.
Is this not an ideal hit-and-run situation? Cano is good at contact, and endlessly GingIDPs. No?
Suzyn thinks “its a little simplistic” to believe ARod finally getting 2 days off after 38 straight games is what started his hot streak.
I blame the rain delay.
Does anyone know why MLB decided that the pertinent stats to use for pitchers on Gameday are AB, Batting Average, HR, K’s, and BB? I mean, I like the last three, but why AB over IP or PA? I’d prefer IP just because that’s what I look at mostly so I have the most feel for how the other stats relate on a rate basis. Just seems odd.
Nice, Robbie!
Hey, April Robinson!
Good thing ARod wasn’t on second.
Just seems odd.
Totally. Gameday’s Flash technology is rather advanced as well, and I think overall it’s a pretty nice design…it would be no great addition for them to allow for you to select stats.
Chip away
Alright Zombie Matsui, let’s just have a productive out here.
There are brains under the bag at first, Hideki. BRAINS!
Matsui should only hit against lefties.
I think Suzyn is “a little simplistic.”
Ichiro! that was unexpected.
Ichiro’s true Yankee moment.
apparently Pena is learning how to play the outfield, for those of you who aren’t listening.
That was a nice little inning. I like that it was keyed by Cano. He’ll shut us up yet.
That’s chump. Ichiro makes the catch to end the inning, moves to toss it to the fans, then puts it in his glove and trots in.
Will Pena be our new Clay Bellinger? Will that lift the curse?
What if Cano is about to go into his usual second-half mode? That, coupled with his respectable first half, would make for an excellent season.
Gameday has ball 1 to Branyan a plain strike 3. Oh, moot.
Gameday has ball 1 to Branyan a plain strike 3. Oh, moot.
Gameday has the squeeze on pretty bad.
Runs. Now.
Jeterian!
Nuts.
That inning went to shit fast.
Takin’ it easy on Vargas.
When did Frankling Gutierrez become a PITA?
Makeup speed.
Those with TVs: was that play as sexy as Sterling would have me believe?
Nice play Melky? Or not…looked like he started in a bit first.
CC has suboptimal command.
Wow, CC sucks shit today.
Well, he’s also pretty unlucky here. The Mariners have put 10 balls in play (excluding HRs) and have gotten 6 hits on those 10 (BABIP .600).
Boooooooooooooo
That’s where not having high end speed hurts.
Make that 7 out of 11.
So does Melky.
#55. Yeah, but that luck thing doesn’t really work for a single start. According to Waldling (I know) every hit has been smoked…
[60] I think that’s an exaggeration, but he isn’t missing bats and he is leaving the ball up.
Everything has been smoked.
Okay, so: runs.
I would feel a bit less annoyed about losing this one if the Sox hadn’t pulled off their stupid comeback yesterday.
he isn’t missing bats and he is leaving the ball up.
Can’t comment on leaving the ball up, but he’s got 7 K’s and 17 swinging strikes, both of which are really high for 4 innings.
BRAAIIIINNNSS!!!!!
BRAINS!!!
Mat goes yard!
Wow, that is EXACTLY what they needed!
Matsui kills lefties.
Time for a blast.
Scratch ONE BUS !!!
‘zilla!
They are certainly trying to stay within bloop and a blast range.
I say CC battles through another inning without giving up a run, then the bullpen holds it down while the offense chugs along.
I would have gone to AA.
[73] I would like to subscribe to your newsletter.
Seriously radio voices? We are praising Vargas for going 4 innings and giving up 4 runs?
They’re busy complimenting Vargas for the job he’s doing against the Yankees…by giving up four runs in four innings?
Damn you, Ted!
PITA
Beat you by 5 seconds Dave!
Still more runs…
At least I beat you to the brains, ya’ bastahd ya’!
If Cervellio reaches to start the inning, I guarantee run(s).
Damn that F-Gut.
Over/Under on how many minutes before Waldman mentions Bautista’s poetry?
[82] Great minds think alike…
Johnny Damon uses Slipknot as his entrance music.
They better not get shut down by Batista.
That was fairly potent suckitude.
CC definitely sucking ass tonight.
And not sure why they left CC out for the 6th, do they want to make it harder to comeback?
I’d go to the pen.
I’m just glad he’s avoiding the leadoff walks. Those’ll kill ya, as we all know.
87- Gotta love that. I’m being serious.
Big Fella was due for a crap game. Still in it men.
Where was that?
Squeeseeeed!!
Bah.
[94] I agree.
don’t give in cc. I can’t believe he is still in the game. Why does it take our manager so long to see the obvious? For those who are watching this game. The ball Ichiro hit to left center. Was it a play that Melky should make?
