How is it that we have one game with LA and their best starter just happens to be going for them? It’s kind of like Halliday seems to be in the mix vs. Yanks almost every time. I know Girardi held Sabbathia back a day or so. I know it happens that managers shuffle, but could Mike S. be working overtime to send a message. I’d say its not really necessary at this point.
I’d probably rate Lackey ahead of Weaver, but yeah, it’s annoying the Yankees aren’t getting a shot at someone like Sean O’Sullivan instead.
Maybe it’s good to get a look at Weaver in case they see him in the postseason.
A quick glance at Weaver’s game log doesn’t seem to indicate any juggling. He pitched on 9/9, 9/4, 8/29, etc. Angels had an off day on 9/3.
I think I might be rooting for you guys tonight. Well, your team anyway. I’d love to see the Angels and Rangers in a one-game playoff for the right to face Beckett, Lester and Buchholz in the ALDS. [And I don’t see an impending collapse in the Bronx, so moving along…]
I think I’d rather see the Rangers and Red Sox in a one-game playoff for the wild card. But at any rate, you’re right, it doesn’t do you much good to root for us. Except that your encouragement could help us to post more cleverly and thus provide you with slightly better entertainment when you check in on a thread.

Joba sucks.
Ugh… Joba vs the Angels. Is there any more all or nothing scenario? If they win all will be right in the world. Joba would have beaten the biggest nemesis. If they lose then we have to hear stories for the rest of the season about how Joba sucks and the Yankees can’t beat the Angels.
I for one would love to face the Angels in the playoffs so we can get another shot at ending the silly “The Yankees can’t beat LAAOALAA” story lines everyone likes to run with.

Yes, please, I hereby prevail upon you, fellow bloggers, to give it your very best in this time of a race to the pennant.
That ain’t going to cut it, SSF. Maybe you should try chanting our names or something. You know, like “Let’s go villainx (clap-clap, clap-clap-clap).”
Here we go SD2582, HERE WE GO! (clap, clap)
That’s the spirit. Maybe we can get a wave going later.
Over under on the amount of runs Joba surrenders, I’m going 3.5 for the number and taking the over
Over under on the amount of runs Joba surrenders, I’m going 3.5 for the number and taking the over
Is this for in the first inning, or per inning after 2 outs?
Joe I was just about to post over/under on number of IPs. I make it 3 1/3
I’m going 3 IP 5ER 2 HRA 2BBs 1 K
I make it 3 1/3
? They raised Joba’s pitch count to 110 already?
3 1/3 5R 2ER 4BBs 1HBP 2Ks
O/U on 4-pitch walks tonight - 2.5
3 1/3 5R 2ER 4BBs 1HBP 2Ks
5R with 2ER… going to be a busy night for Johnny Damon
I have confirmed the Angels lineup:
Figgins 3B
Figgins SS
Figgins 2B
Chili Davis DH
Figgins 1B
Figgins LF
Figgins CF
Figgins RF
Figgins C
O/U on 4-pitch walks tonight - 2.5
Per Yankee pitcher?
Just kidding, let’s go Yankees!
Here we go SD2582, HERE WE GO! (clap, clap)
Doesn’t count if you get the name wrong…
Suzyn is already getting started with the “working quickly” nonsense and how that makes all the difference. When will she come to understand that almost EVERYONE works quickly when there is no one on base and almost NO ONE works quickly when there are guys on base, so if he keeps guys off base he will work quickly. Maybe it is time to switch to the Angels announcers…
Wall avoidance pays off for Abreau, there.
“Hideki Matsui, DH (.275/.366/.510, 1.7 WAR)
Jorge Posada, C (.283/.358/.529, 2.1 WAR)”
This seems odd unless there’s no defensive adjustment for catchers.
This seems odd unless there’s no defensive adjustment for catchers.
Defense is not factored into WAR, unless I’m mistaken.
It’s probably best to avoid the Angels radio voices as they insist on referring to Vlad as “Big Daddy”.
Defense is not factored into WAR, unless I’m mistaken.
Well, not for catchers and DHs anyway. Matsui probably gets a bit of a playing time bonus, no?
Fangrpahs has Posada at 3.6 WAR, and Matsui at 2 flat.
Damon with the fake throw into the stands. Someone in the crowd must be giving him the business.
So Joba looks bad or good? Just got back from playing, um, squash
Disgraceful !
Nick Swisher…not just a road warrior.
Just another example of what a joke this place is. Nick Swisher, who is so bad he can’t even hit homers in Yankee Stadium, goes 2nd deck.
So, does Chamberlain get another inning? He can’t be the losing pitcher as things stand now.
Joba retired Chone Figgins, twice?!? Is he aware that is against league rules?
Thought I read he was sposed to go 4 tonite, MC.
[35] - Bravo.
“Defense is not factored into WAR, unless I’m mistaken.”
It is above for Jeter.
Otherwise it should be oWAR or something.
So last inning gameday has Joba in the low 90s, with one 95. I seldom if ever see the velocity/command tradeoff addressed in this context, but he is throwing a lot of pitches.
Flaherty <3 bullpens.
I hope those who are into tennis are following what is going on right now…
Fuck tennis. Go Bills.
We only have fans of girls’ tennis around here, Ted.
Fuck New England. Go tennis.
Did he actually work out of a jam just now, or is something screwy with gameday?
I am not sure SSF is interested in clever posts about tennis though.
That was a quality start according to my idiosyncratic definition.
Smart Car… totalled.
Posado didn’t show bunt?!?
Dear Jorge,
Hit a NYS Cheapie, please.
Thanks in advance.
I hate the Weaver family, forever and for always.
Nice non-call Mr. ump.
I believe in Cano.
52- Not Dennis or Charley?
Baserunner Cloaking: On.
Don’t bite the garbage RC.
Farns- Bag.
Cano sucks.
Cano doesn’t often pull pitches on the outside part of the plate.
Fuck the Angels- Go Bills!
For those into tennis, men’s tennis that is, turning on your local CBS affiliate right this second would be a good idea.
otf is using up all our swear poll alloted swear words.
Aybar has killed us this season.
I’m out of control Vill. Bills with a pulse, Jets with a hint of D. Yanks…...
Love em. I’ll stop with the bad words now.
I hate the radio voices.
Chone plays the game the right way and is a veteran, there is no way he doesn’t get this runner in from third.
Sterling is a Farnsing piece of Veras.
67- Not all cliches are meaningless.
I’m referring to his analysis about having the infield play in. It’s a valid consideration for Girardi, but it’s also annoying to hear Sterling basically say I told you so.
The Yankees better score some more runs to make sure this isn’t part of his late inning yapping.
[68] Hat trick.
Not in time!
Will Girardi try to scioscia a run?
[69] And apparently not all attempts at reverse jinxes work.
Oh noes.
Cappy needs to leadership some runs here.
How can Girardi not bunt there? We’ll never beat the Angels in a playoff series until they fear our small ball prowess. They scoff at walks and homers.
Jeter being Jeter.
[77] Scioscia is very powerful.
OK, I get it now. Couldn’t bunt Melky, ‘cause we had to set up Jeter to play the game the right way. Don’t know how I could have missed that.
Trader!!! With a blast!
Once again, phenomenal baserunning by the Yankees. It seems like every game they outdo themselves.
Figgins hit Melky in the nuts.
Really?
What in the fuck was that?
84- Aye.
Yay, clutchitude!
Teix scoffs at that smallball shit.
Interfere THAT.
All due to the bunt. Jeter for MVP!
Hunter looked like crap on that play. Probably admiring how awesome a hit it was by Teixeira and it’s WPAness.
The supermen trail?????
Teix triples?
He is a hustler!
Good thing Jeter bunted them over
Tex just hit a triple on a catcher interference and the centerfielder lost his shoe. What a wierd inning.
Foul was smoked.
Dream Weaver could break here.
Or not.
Good thing Jeter bunted them over
Well, if Jeter had GDP’d, Teixeira probably wouldn’t have batted that inning.
My tv is broken it’s telling me the Yankees have more runs than the Angels.
