Joba Chamberlain will/should <strike>pitch</strike> dominate an inning at some point.
Fixed.
As I did with Hughes, I’m just praying he doesn’t hurt himself somehow…
Wow! Upton’s got a canon!
You can watch the game on MLB TV, and I don’t think you need a login.
I hope so. My satellite just went out, and Joba’s pitching now!
Phillips says Jabba. Does he know something?
Not in general, about the pronunciation.
Jabba? Shouldn’t, couldn’t, wouldn’t it be better as Joe-ba?
Joba, chasin’ away the birds.
If I recall, Philly Phranchise didn’t dominate in his appearance in the futures game a few years back… dammit. Team World is speedy and annoying.
Team World is speedy and annoying.
Whats really annoying is that we don’t have any of those fast guys.
So… does Joba get a second innning?

The format of the game is that each pitcher gets one inning.
Allright, if Erin Andrews says Jabba, that’s ogod enough for me.
I don’t like that Joba said he has “aches and pains.”
Oh well, I guess the guy over at MCN.com was right… Joba’s gonna get stuck with the nickname “The Hutt” going forward.

If Erin pronounced your name wrong, would you correct her?
That’s MVN.com… yeah, I cringed when I heard the aches and pain comment as well.
Joba is pronounced “Jaw-buh.” At least, that’s the word around U. Nebraska.

This going to be a great merchandising opportunity. It will make those Godzilla dolls look tiny by comparison.
Wow, Steve Phillips looked at position adjusted stats… he’s such a genius.
It’s too bad Joba only got one inning. He looked like he was overthrowing to the first two batters and the last out was a pretty solidly hit ball. But his velocity was pretty good, all in the mid-nineties. The funny thing is, he’s still a year older than Phil Hughes. Three big hard throwing righthanders for 2009, if everything goes right, sign me up for the Wang/Hughes/Chamberlain Express.
Rachel Specter, you magnificent minx.
You don’t think that Joba will be ready sometime next year?
For those wondering, Joba was 94-98 with an average of 96 with the fastball.
I got my first look at Dellin Betances this weekend (via video). That kid makes me all tingly.
I mean, add Brackman and Sanchez, with this many top shelf pitching prospects, at least 2 have to pan out, right?

No love for Zach McAllister? Brackman sounds like he needs re-constructive surgery that Sanchez just underwent, I wouldn’t hold my breath for either one of them until they actually gets on the mound and pitches a couple of innings first.
If Brackman needs TJ surgery, why sign him? That would be dumb. My feeling is that with Brackman, throwing a spike curveball, all he has is indeed some soreness, ala King Felix. The Mariners had Felix dump the spike curve and he seemed fine the other night.
Don, if Brackman is gonna have TJ surgery I say good sign him fast. That should keep his value down and we could get him cheaper.
TJ has a very very good success rate at this point of pitchers returning just as well if not better then before. I would much rather swap out that ligament now and get him a fresh one then have to deal with him missing two weeks here or there if it gets sore. One year of lost development isnt that huge of a deal.
IMHO the Yankees should keep snatching up guys with elbow issues. They will be undervalues and that is the only way we are gonna be able to draft high ceiling talent late, that and throwing money at it
You beat me to it KAnst. I agree with you 100%. Isn’t that how we got Alan Horne too? Look how he’s doing.
Brackman’s agent is Bora$$. There will be no discount. That and he was, after all, a 1st round pick, so a little reality. No comp with Horne.
And as I also said, I think it is merely soreness owing to his spike curveball, ala King Felix. If so, they will scrap the spike curve for the more traditional curve.
As for pitchers returning better than before, that has no basis in reality, it is an urban legend. And 18 months is usual for recovery. Depends on the degree of surgery as well, some are more involved than others.
