7 Days to Go

Last week before the LSATs, so things are going to be brief. You can check out the important stats here:

http://yankeesprospects.com/daily.php

As for my personal views on today’s action…Ivan Nova pitched pretty poorly. He was around 92 all game with his fastball, but struggled to command the pitch the way he typically he does. Making matters worse, he also struggled with the control of his breaking pitches and as a result he had a start where he held the opposition back, but at the same time he wasn’t very good.

Alan Horne struggled with pretty much the same thing in his previous start for Trenton.

Ian Kennedy was promoted to AA.

Am I nuts to think we could see Kennedy in the Show this year?

At the current pace the Yankees will use 20 more starters this year, so it seems inevitable.

Seriously though, unless he has a setback in AA I expect he’ll be on the Yankees bench in September, at least like they did with Hughes last year.  There may be too many people ahead of him on the depth-chart to get any time on the roster though.

good luck on the lsats fabian. to you or anyone else - what are the reports on edwar ramirez’s stuff? the numbers he’s posting in relief are absolutely insane.

Ramirez throws around 91. He has an amazing changeup, that is what is getting it done.

hmm…keith foulke’s breakout came in his age 26 seasson.

nee-nee-nee-nee-nee-nee-nee-nee…

I tink you’re nuts, other than riding the pine in September.

Where’s Tabata tonight?

Tabata had the night off, it appears.

Way back in the 20th century, Bill James wrote the first essential book about baseball managers. Chris Jaffe has just written the second.

From now on, whenever I have a question about a manager, Jaffe's book will be the first and last one I reach for.

John Brattain Memorial Fund

The Hardball Times has set up a memorial fund for John Brattain's family. He left behind a wife and two teenage daughters.

Four years ago, I found from personal experience how generous the online community can be to its own in their hour of need. I am now literally begging you to be even more generous than you were to me.
